LIGHTNING - DOMINATOR SCRIMMAGE

Lightning veterans and rookies take the field this Sunday for their first game together against the Lady Dominator 13's. Scrimmage time is 4:45pm. Arrive early and sit somewhere safe as the Lightning are ready to strike!

Mattie, Josie, and Taylor threw 3-innings of no-hit softball and the defense held the Lady Dominators to 3 runs. Taylor came up big for the Lightning at the plate going 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored, 2 rbi's and 2 stolen bases. Lightning started off strong behind Mattie in the first inning getting the D's three up, three down. Lightning struck quick in the bottom of the first. With two outs, Halie reached second on an error and stole third before Megan drove her in with an RBI single. Megan stole second and third and advanced home on a wild pitch. In the top of the second, Josie struck out the first batter and walked the next. Lady D stole second and eventually scored off of two wild pitches. The next two batters struck out to bring the Lightning to bat in the bottom of the second. With one out, Madison and Taylor single and score when McKinley's flyout to center was dropped. Sam and Halie then single before the inning ends with a strikeout. In the top of the third, Taylor strikes out the first batter. The next batter draws a walk and advances to second. A run scores with an error on a throw to first and that base runner comes around to score. Taylor strikes out the next two batters. Mattie draws a walk to start the bottom of the inning and finds third after a stolen base and wild pitch. With one out, Janae walks and Madilyn is hit by a pitch. Madison gets an RBI fielder's choice scoring Mattie. Taylor next hits a 2-RBI single scoring Janae and Madilyn. Josie walks and McKinley gets a hit scoring Taylor before the game is called due to the time limit. Lightning are 2-0 in fall league and play Wahoo next.

The Lightning was pouring it on strong in game one of the 16U championship game against Omaha's Finest 16U. Unfortunately, lightning was sited and the game was cancelled and Omaha's Finest was declared the tournament champions. The Lightning was leading 2-0 with one out, and runners on first and third. The Lightning would have to win both games in order to win the championship. The Lightning ended 6-2 for the tournament and runner-up honors.
