Flames Finish Futsal Season in 2nd!!

The Flames finished the winter indoor FUTSAL season the way they started; with a victory! It was their 5th win in a row! We finished in 2nd place with a record to 6-2. It was a very successful season & Iwant to thank the 11 of 15 players that played. We out scored our opponents 56 to 32. Great Job Boys!

Flames Come From Behind to Beat Warriors!

Down by two goals in their final game of the season, the Flames showed what they are made of & came back to defeat the Stony Brook Warriors, 4-3. It was a hard fought, back & forth game that resulted in the Flames 5th victory of the season. The win clinches 4th place for the Flames with a record of 5-3-1. It was a very competitive division & overall we did very well. Good job boys.

Flames Blow Away Hurricanes!!

The Flames got their second victory of the season by defeating the tough Brentwood Hurricanes 4-1! It was a very rough & physical game with a lot of back & forth action. The Flames stuck together & played an excellent game. We weren't intimidated & played hard.
Good hustle & teamwork. Terrific Defense & goalkeeping. Keep up the hard work boys.

Flames Clip Falcons Wings!

In the pouring rain the Flames shut-out the Port Washington Falcons 8-0 to advance to the next round of the NY State Cup! The weather didn't slow down the Flames as we dominated the game from the first whistle to the last. We beat the falcons to every ball & played great defense. The Flames had 6 different goal scorers, which makes the coaches very happy.
The Flames will host Downtown United in the next round of the NY State Cup on Sunday, 10/15. Game time TBA.

The Flames bounced back from last weeks poor showing with a well played game & victory against the Commack Heat; 4-1. The Flames scored first & never looked back as they dominated the game from the first whistle to the last. The Flames hustled & beat Commack to every ball. Great teamwork boys. The Flames were down 2 goals but hung tough & never quit as we came from behind to tie the Kings Park Storm. We started out slow, playing poorly, but turned it around & almost pulled off an incredible come from behind victory. We need to stay in position & play together more as a team. You guys showed a lot of heart today.

Flames Win Overtime Thriller!

March 18, 2006
The Flames defeated the Bethpage Blue Bombers in the final minute of the second overtime 4-3. Both teams were pretty evenly matched in this back & forth battle of the first round of the Waldbaum's Cup. The game was tied at the end of regulation & went to a golden goal Overtime. There was no score after the first 5 minute OT period, but Jonathan put an end to the game with a blast into the back of the net with one minute left before the shootout.
Great game boys. The victory means that the Flames will advance to round 2 of the Waldbaum's Cup on Saturday, April 8th, 10 AM. We will be playing the Oceanside Tidal Wave at home.

Flames Avoid Shark Attack!

The Flames finally got their first league win of the Spring season. They narrowly defeated the Kings Park Sharks 2-1. The field conditions were awful as the Flames once again played in the rain. The boys played very well though, with great passing & defense. I think you guys like to play wet.

In their first game of the winter season, the Flames defeated the Sachem Force 4-3. It was a very close, fast paced, back & forth game that went our way. Indoors is a lot different. It's a much faster game with no off-sides & subbing on the fly. Good start boys.

Flames Tie East Islip Metrostars!

Down by 2 goals, the Flames came from behind to tie the East Islip Metrostars 3-3. The Flames spotted EI one goal early on, when we accidently put one into our own net. (Nice header, though Kyle)
The Flames never quit & showed a lot of heart by comming back for the draw. The Metrostars had a few guest players from their "A" team, the EI United.
Great second half boys, good defense & goalkeeping (Both our keepers had assists today). Keep up the hard work.

Flames Finish Season with a Win!

The Flames are on Hot! It took us a while to get going, but the Flames sure did finish the season strong! Even though the Flames defeated the Babylon Strikers only 1-0; we dominated the entire game! It was our third shutout in a row! Everyone played great! The Flames hustled & beat the Strikers to every ball. Good passing & defense.
The victory makes our record 5-1-3 with 18 points in division S3. We finished in second place; but I think we were the best team in the division. We outscored our opponents 18 to 7. Great job boys!
I'm sure we will be moving up next Fall.

The Flames extended their winning streak to 3 games by defeating the Northport Ambush 3 to 1.
The Flames remain undefeated & tied for first in Division SS.
There was a lot of very good pasing & defense. We out hustled Northport to the ball & had more scoring opportunities.
Keep up the hard work boys, we are proud of you all.
We have a big game next week, at home for 1st place against the Hauppauge Blue United (also 3-0).

The Flames defeated the Hauppauge Blue United 4-1; to take sole pocession of first place! The Flames kept their unbeaten streak alive at 4. The Flames started off a little bit silly & sloppy: but we pulled it together. Very good passing & teamwork boys!

The Flames played on a short square field to a 2-2 draw against the Lindenhurst Dragonslayers. We are now in a 3 way tie for first place & need to win our last 3 games.
At least it wasn't another loss. The Flames need to get back to basics & play more as a team. We need to do more passing, stay in our positions & play defense.

It was a beautiful Autumn day as the Flames shut-out the Stony Brook Warriors 2-0. The win keeps us in a tie for first place wiht two games remaining. We played a sloppy first half, but came bace in the second with 2 unanswered goals for the victory. Good defense boys. We must continue to play like we did in the second half, Passing, dribbling & staying in our positions.

The Flames and the Terryville Raptors played an excellent game to a 1-1 draw. Even though we tied today, we are not out of it. If we win next week in our make-up game against the West Babylon Blur, we would be in a 3-way tie for first place with Terryville & Hauppauge. So we have our work cut out for us boys. It's all up to us. Who thought BU10 soccer could be so exciting.

Flames Are Fall '05 Division Champs!

The Flames shut-out the West Babylon Blur 2-0, to clinch a 3-way tie for first place with the Terryville Raptors & Hauppauge United. We all had identical records of 6-1-2, with 20 points in the LIJSL "SS" Division. This fall the Flames had two shutout victories & scored 21 goals, while only giving up 10. Great teamwork boys! We are very proud of each & every one of you!
The Flames really earned their victory today. They totally dominated the game & played excellent defense.
There were a lot of great plays today, like JT's free kick over the wall & into the back of the net; but the best was Matt M's goal saving kick from out of nowhere to save the shutout!

Flames Ride Surf to Victory!

The Flames defeated the Bayport Surf, 2-1 for their second straight win of the fall travel soccer season.
It was a very hard fought, close game.
The Flames once again pretty much dominated play on both offense & defense. We had more scoring chances & out-shot Bayport.
I saw a lot of good passing & strong defense. The Flames are improving as a team with each game we play.

Flames Win 1st Travel Game!

The Flames defeated the CHS Renegades 4-2. It should have been 5 but the strange referee mised one! The Flames had more possesion time & out-shot CHS nearly 2 to 1. Good start boys. Overall, we played very well but I see room for imrovement in the passing & positioning area.
More Teamwork & less ME-work!

Flames Tie Storm.....

The Flames came back & tied the Center Moriches Storm 3-3.
It should have been a Flames victory because we definately out-played them.
Their first goal was offsides! But the referee missed it (& many other calls too).
This game brings an end to our (shortened) spring season & the BU-9 interleague team. Our Spring record was a strong 5-2-1 with 2 missed games.
HBC & Commack cancelled, & refused to make up the games.
It's been a pleasure & honor to be your coach. I really enjoyed it. You're a fine group of boys & I wish all of you the best.
I've seen a big improvement in many individuals & the team.
I hope everybody learned something.

Playing 8v7 & the Flames still win! Due to a coaching error that I just realized at the end of the game when we were shaking hands; I noticed that Northport had only 9 players but one sub! I confirmed this later with the Northport coach that they play 8v8 (like last time) but they didn't tell me!
So the Flames remain undefeated, beating the Northport Ambush 3-2 & keeping their winning streak alive at 4!
It was a wet day, with a very slippery ball & a very soggy field but the Flames hung tough & played well. Good job boys!

The Flames got back on the winning track by defeating the Lake Grove White Heat 5-1. This was the same team that took 2nd place last summer in the East End Tournament. (which we didn't play!)

Flames Win 1st Game of the Spring

In a very close game; the Flames edged out the Terryville Raptors 3-2. The Flames were a little rusty, but overall we played pretty good.
We had plenty of scoring chances, but just couldn't finish, by putting the ball in the net. The goaltending & defense played very good. Everyone had their shinning monents.
With a little practice & teamwork, the Flames will "Burn the Competition!"

Flames Season Cut Short

It looks like the Flames season has ended. The Bellport team is having trouble fielding players (same as Smithtown), so they don't want to make up our game.
The Flames ended the Fall interleague season with a record of 6 wins & 1 loss. We scored 28 goals while only giving up 12. Great job boys!
So, with Sachem folding & no one else left to play;
I'd like to invite all the players to Sipp Ave. on Saturday, 11/13 @ 3PM for an intersquad scrimmage . Please try to make it.

Flames Ambush Northport!

In a very close game the Flames barely defeated the Northport Ambush 1-0. We traveled a long distance, but it was worth while, as we came away with the victory. Great game boys!
A special THANKS goes out to Spencer's dad, Evan, for stepping up & volunteering to referee the game when Northport couldn't produce a Ref.(or get any of their parents to volunteer)

Smithtown Forfiets to Flames

The VOB (Smithtown) team showed up with only 3 players; so technically they had to forfiet. But, the Flames came to play...... so we made the best of it & split up our team to have a scrimmage.

The Flames defeated Sachem Gold 9 to 4.
We took a 5-0 first half lead & held them off in the second half (4-4) to capture our 2nd straight win of the Fall Interleague season.
There were 8 different goal scorers & 6 players with assists.
Great job boys! A real team effert! We see improvement with every game played.

The game was postponed due to wind & rain on Saturday, but that didn't hold back the Flames on Sunday. The Flames defeated the Northport Ambush 5-1 for their 1st interleague victory of the season.
