New Business:

Ken Wilzoch explained to the group there was an executive meeting held on January 21st to discuss the possibility of new leadership for the organization.  Grace was presented with the possibility of her stepping down as President.  A new board position of past President advisor was presented to her.  Grace declined to step down and wishes to continue as President.

Ken Wilzoch spoke about organizations not showing up at meetings and the necessity for this behavior to stop.

With the absence of Carl Fadley and Lynn Brooks from this meeting, Ken reported Carl had talked to 15 different organizations about leaving Stark County and forming their own organization.  Along with that Lynn Brooks was going to be the head umpire of the new organization.  This move was being made in the absence of new leadership for SCGSA.

Two seasoned umpires, the Dowling brothers, were present at the meeting and spoke to the realities of the organization being split into two.  The umpire shortage will be even worse with two organizations.

Sebring stated Lynn didn't schedule games for at least 2 umpires they brought into the organization in 2017.  They said they were willing to pay $10 more per game to get umpires for their games.  They were also willing to have 1 less home game scheduled to help with the shortage of umpires for games.

There were many members offering discussion of solutions to the dilemma before the association.

A short 10 minute break was called for.

Upon returning from the break, Grace Shanower resigned as President of SCGSA after more than 40 years.

A motion by TJ was made to suspend the by-laws for the meeting.  Mickey seconded.  Motion passed.

A motion was made by TJ to create a new position on the board of Past President Advisor with Grace filling this position.  Jeanette seconded.  Motion passed.

Any person what will be int eh dugout during the game, including managers, coaches, scorekeeper, etc., must pass the State of Ohio Concussion Exam.  All persons that has not taken the exam in the past 3 years are required to complete the exam.  The exam is available at https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html.  There will be research into Lindsay's Law to see how it applies to SCGSA.

Proposed Rule Changes for 2018:
