July 4, Haverford. The gender barrier came crashing down as the battery of Mark and Michelle Harbison combined to win the July 4th game 13-9. Mark collected 4 hits, while Michelle hit safely on a fly ball over the head of Don Camera. The game was spiced by a leaping grab by secondbaseman, Wink, on a line-drive, sure base hit by Bob Farr. With the wind blowing in, several blasts were caught at the fence. The game also marked the return of Bruce Love, a long-time player. The father-son tandem of Frank and Jim Merenda (opposite teams) were good for 5 hits; in the final inning saw Frank pitching to Jim. Jim won the battle with a ringing double to center field over the head of Rob Aronson.
