In 2017, Erik Hisner will begin his 11th year as the Head Baseball Coach at Whitko High School.  In his first ten years, Hisner has helped take a winless program and build it into a state ranked competitor.

When Hisner arrived at Whitko, he inherited a program that went 0-25, had only 15 players, did not play a JV schedule, and had no feeder program at the middle school.  In his first year in 2007, the Wildcats won 10 games and finished in second place in the Three Rivers Conference.  In 2008, the JV team played a full schedule and the Whitko Pony League was created as the feeder program at the middle school.  In 2009, the Wildcats won 12 games and advanced to the Sectional Championship Game for only the second time in school history.  In 2010, the Wildcats earned their first state ranking In over 30 years.  From 2011-2015, the Wildcats have had five winning seasons, won twenty games four times, claimed four county championships, and finished in the top 20 in the final IHSBCA Class 3A State Poll twice.  And in 2016, the the Wildcats won the school's first Conference Championship in 31 years and set a program record for wins in a single season with 22.

Hisner graduated from Bellmont High School in Decatur, Indiana in 2001.  At Bellmont, he lettered in tennis, basketball, and baseball.  During his senior baseball season, Hisner helped lead the Braves to Conference and Sectional Championships while being named All-Conference, All-State, and a North/South Indiana All-Star.

After graduating from Bellmont, Hisner attended Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education in 2005.  While at Goshen, Hisner was a four-year starter for the Maple Leaf baseball program.  He was named to the All-Conference team three times, the All-Region team one time, the All-American team one time, and left as the program career record holder in batting average (.419), hits (211), home runs (31), runs batted in (161), and walks (85).  

In 2013, Hisner earned a Master's Degree in Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine, California.

In addition to coaching baseball at Whitko High School in South Whitley, Indiana, Hisner is the Athletic Director and Health and Physical Education teacher at Whitko Middle School in Larwill, Indiana.  He is also an active member of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA), and the Northeast Indiana Baseball Association (NEIBA).

Hisner resides in South Whitley with his wife Jessica, and their two children, Blakeley (4) and Brayden (2).
