Bradford & Bechtold Named All-State

Drew Bradford and Alex Bechtold have been selected to the 2017 IHSBCA Class 2A All-State team.  Bradford earned First Team All-State honors as a pitcher.  He went 9-1 with a 1.02 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 75 and 1/3 innings pitched.  Bechtold earned Honorable Mention All-State honors as an outfielder.  He hit .319 with 1 home run, 4 doubles, 20 RBI's, 25 walks, 40 runs, and 18 stolen bases.


Bradford Named North-South All-Star

Drew Bradford has named to the North All-Star Team in the upcoming IHSBCA North-South All-Star Series from July 14-16 at Ball State University.  With the honor, Bradford becomes just the second Wildcat in program history, joining outfielder Zach Snep in 2015, to play in the prestigious event.


Bradford Named District Player of the Year

Drew Bradford has been named IHSBCA District I Player of the Year.  With the award, Bradford becomes the first player in program history to be named an IHSBCA District Player of the Year.

Awards Banquet

The awards banquet will be on Tuesday, June 13th at 6:30 in the WHS commons/cafeteria.  Please bring all school issued uniforms and pants, and your program issued playbook to turn in.  All uniforms and pants must be washed.  If for some reason you can't make the awards banquet, you must make arrangements with Coach Hisner to turn everything in.


#10 Varsity Ends Season With Loss to Wapahani in Regional

On Saturday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity ended their season with a loss to Wapahani in the Regional semi-finals, 6-0.  Drew Bradford suffered his first loss of the season despite only giving up two earned runs in 7 innings.  The Wildcats could only muster three hits against Wapahani pitching as Landen Goff, Drew Bradford, and Bailey Platt each had a single.  The 'Cats finish their historic season at 21-10.


#10 Varsity Defeats #12 Cass to Earn First Sectional Champeionship

On Monday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity defeated Class 2A #12 Cass, 5-3, to win the first Sectional Championship in school history.  Drew Bradford picked up his single season school record tying 9th win of the season by throwing 5.2 innings and allowing 3 earned runs while striking out 7.  River West notched his 2nd save of the season by hurling 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.  Bradford also led the Wildcat offense by going 2-4 and driving in the winning runs with a 2 run single in the 5th inning that broke a 3-3 tie.  His 34 RBI's also set a single season school record.  Spencer Sroufe continued his postseason hot streak by going 2-3 with a double.  The 'Cats are now 21-9 and return to action on Saturday when they battle Wapahani at 1:00 in the Class 2A Wabash Regional.  


#10 Varsity Walks-Off Rochester in Extras, Advances to Sectional Championship Game

On Saturday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity got a walk-off double from Landen Goff in the bottom of the 8th inning to defeat Rochester, 4-3, in 8 innings in the Class 2A Sectional #37 Semi-Finals in Wabash.  Drew Bradford picked up the win by throwing 4 innings of scoreless relief.  Starter Alex Robbins allowed only 2 earned runs in 4 innings.  Spencer Sroufe went 2-3 with a double, Bailey Platt went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, Bradford went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Goff went 2-4 with his game-winning double.  With the win, the 'Cats improve to 20-9 (their 6th consecutive 20-win season), but more importantly advance to the Sectional Championship Game against Cass on Monday at 6:00 at Wabash High School.


#10 Varsity Drops Regular Season Finale

On Tuesday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity lost their regular season finale at home against Central Noble, 9-3.  Austin Hollowell suffered the loss allowing 5 earned runs in 4 innings.  Bailey Platt led the Wildcat offense by going 2-2 with a double.  The 'Cats finish the regular season 19-9 and return to action on Saturday when they play Rochester in the Class 2A Sectional #37 Semi-Finals at Wabash High School at 3:00.


JV Loses at Peru to Finish Season

On Tuesday, the JV lost at Peru, 9-4.  The 'Cats finish their season with a 1-18 record.


#10 Varsity Drops Another Extra Inning Heartbreaker at Bellmont

On Monday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity lost another extra-inning heartbreaker at Bellmont, 3-2 in 8 innings.  Drew Bradford got a no-decision despite not allowing an earned run in in 7 innings while striking out 7.  Bradford ends the regular season with a 7-0 record, 1 save, a 0.72 ERA and 89 K's in 58.2 IP.  Alex Bechtold led the Wildcat offense by going 3-4 with a double.  Landen Goff went 2-2 and reached base in all 4 plate appearances.  The 'Cats are now 19-8 and return to action on Tuesday against Central Noble at 5:00 in their regular season finale.


JV Loses ar Prairie Heights

On Monday, the JV lost at Prairie Heights, 9-4.  The 'Cats are now 1-17 and return to action on Tuesday in their season finale at Peru at 5:00.

On Saturday, the Class 2A #10 ranked Varsity defeated Prairie Heights, 9-5.  River West picked up the win by allowing only 1 earned run in 6.2 innings.  Drew Bradford led the Wildcat offensive attack by going 2-2 with a double.  The 'Cats improve to 19-7 and return to action on Monday when they travel to Bellmont at 5:00.


Varsity Start Time with Prairie Heights Changed

Due to Saturday's forecast, the Varsity's doubleheader at Prairie Heights will now start at 9:00.


#10 Varsity Upset at North Miami

On Wednesday, the Class 2A #10 ranked Varsity was upset at North Miami, 8-5.  Alex Robbins suffered the pitching loss.  River West had two hits, Landen Goff hit a two-run home run, and Drew Bradford, Zach Hewitt, and Austin Hollowell added doubles.  The 'Cats are now 18-7 overall and finish the conference loop at 5-4.  They return to action on Saturday when they travel to Prairie Heights for a doubleheader at 10:00.


#10 Varsity Loses Heartbreaker to Peru

On Monday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity lost in 10 innings at Peru, 3-2.  Drew Bradford gave the Wildcats a great start by allowing only 2 earned runs in 7.2 innings while striking out 10.  Alex was the tough luck loser as he surrendered an unearned run in the bottom of the 10th inning.  Bailey Platt had two hits.  Alex Robbins and Spencer Sroufe each added a double.  The 'Cats are now 18-6 overall and 5-3 in the conference and are back in action on Wednesday when they conclude conference play at North Miami at 5:30. 


JV Falls to Columbia City

On Monday, the JV lost at home to Columbia City, 19-8.  They are now 1-16 and return to action on Thursday when they host Tippecanoe Valley at 5:00.


JV Game With Peru Rescheduled

Due to a scheduling conflict at Peru, the JV game with the Tigers has been moved to Tuesday, May 23rd.


JV Gets First Win, Finishes as Runner-Up at Own Invitational

On Saturday, the JV defeated Central Noble, 11-10, for their first win of the season in the first round of the Whitko Invitational.  In the championship, they lost to Northwood, 21-1.  The 'Cats are now 1-15 and return to action on Monday when they host county rival Columbia City at 5:00.


Varsity Game at North Miami Game Pushed Back to 5:30

Due to transportation issues, the Varsity game at North Miami has been pushed back to 5:30.


#7 Varsity Wins at Rochester

On Wednesday, the Class 2A #7 ranked Varsity won at Rochester, 8-2.  Drew Bradford improved to 7-0 by not allowing an earned run in 6.2 IP while striking out 13.  Zach Hewitt led the Wildcat offensive attack by going 3-4 with a home run, double, and 2 RBI's.  Bradford and Alex Robbins both doubled among two hits, and Alex Bechtold added a two-run home run.  The 'Cats are now 18-5 overall and 5-2 in the conference and return to action next Monday at Peru at 6:00.


JV Loses at Heritage

On Wednesday, the JV lost at Heritage, 11-1.  The 'Cats are now 0-14 and return to action on Saturday when they host Central Noble at 10:00 in the first round of the Whitko Invitational.


#7 Varsity Falls on Senior Night

On Tuesday, the Class 2A #7 Varsity fell at home on Senior Night to Class 1A #10 Triton, 12-5.  Zach Morris was the tough luck loser in relief of starter Bailey Platt.  Alex Bechtold and Drew Bradford each went 2-3 and Alex Robbins hit a solo home run.  The 'Cats are now 17-5 and return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Rochester at 5:00.


JV Falls at Manchester

On Tuesday, the JV lost at Manchester, 11-1.  The 'Cats are now 0-13 and return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Heritage at 5:00.


#7 Varsity Wins Splits with Wabash

On Monday, the Class 2A #7 Varsity split a doubleheader with Wabash, winning the conference game, 9-3, and losing the non-conference game, 10-9.  In the conference game win, Alex Robbins picked up his 4th win of the season by not allowing an earned run in 7 innings while striking out 3.  Zach Hewitt went 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI's, Alex Bechtold went 2-2 with 3 RBI's, and Drew Bradford went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI's.  In the non-conference game loss, the Wildcats blew a five run lead by committing 8 errors.  Landen Goff went 3-4 with 2 doubles.  The 'Cats are now 17-4 and 4-2 in the conference.  They return to action on Tuesday when they host Triton at 5:00 on Senior Night.


JV Drops Close Game to Northfield

On Monday, the JV lost at home to Northfield, 4-2.  The 'Cats are now 0-12 and return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Manchester at 5;00.


#7 Varsity Sweeps Southern Wells, Moves to 16-3

On Saturday, the Class 2A #7 Varsity swept Southern Wells at home, 17-2 and 13-3.  In the game one win, Zach Morris picked up his 3rd win of the year by allowing only 1 earned run in 5 innings while striking out 4.  Zach Hewitt, Austin Hollowell, and Colin Craig each had 2 hits, and Alex Robbins had 4 RBI's.  In the game two win, Austin Hollowell earned the win in his first start of the year by allowing only 2 earned runs in 5 innings of work while striking out 6.  Alex Bechold and Drew Bradford each went 3-4.  The 'Cats are now 16-3 and return to action on Monday when they travel to Wabash for a doubleheader at 5:00.

Due to inclement weather, the Varsity game with Bellmont scheduled for Friday, May 5th has been postponed and rescheduled for Monday, May 22nd.

#7 Varsity Shuts Out Manchester

On Wednesday, the Class 2A #7 Varsity blanked TRC rival Manchester at home, 4-0.  Drew Bradford picked up his 6th win of the year by allowing only 3 hits while striking out 9 in the complete game shut out effort.  Alex Robbins led the Wildcat offensive attack by going 2-3 with 2 RBI and 2 stolen bases.  Zach Hewitt and Alex Bechtold also went 2-3.  The 'Cats are now 14-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference and return to action on Friday when they travel to Bellmont at 5:00.


Varsity Adds Game

The Varsity has added a game at Wabash next Monday, May 8th.  The Whitko-Wabash TRC game will be played at 5:00 and be followed by a non-conference game 20 minutes after game #1.


JV Drops Home Contest to Rochester

On Tuesday, the JV lost at home to conference for Rochester, 15-3.  The 'Cats are now 0-11 and return to action on Friday when they host county rival Columbia City at 5:00.


#7 Varsity Gets No-Hit in Loss to Northfield

On Monday, the Class 2A #7 Varsity's offensive woes continued as they got no-hit by Northfield's Blake Harner in a 1-0 loss.  The Wildcats wasted a tremendous pitching performance by Alex Robbins.  He surrendered only an unearned run and 6 hits while striking out 4 and walking 0 in 7 innings.  The 'Cats are now 13-3 and 2-2 in the conference and return to action on Wednesday when they host Manchester at 5:00.


Varsity Schedule Change

The Varsity game scheduled for Tuesday, May 2nd at Southern Wells will not be a doubleheader on Saturday, May 6th at 11:00.


Varsity & JV Games Cancelled on Friday

The Varsity game at home against Adams Central and the JV game at Tippecanoe Valley on Friday have been cancelled.  If makeup dates can be found, they will be announced.


JV Loses to West Noble

On Thursday, the JV lost at home to West Noble, 10-3.  The 'Cats are now 0-10 and return to action on Friday when they travel to Tippecanoe Valley at 5:00.


#5 Varsity Drops Conference Game to Southwood

On Wednesday, the Class 2A #5 Varsity lost at home to Southwood, 7-3.  Alex Robbins was the tough luck loser as he allowed only one earned run in six innings.  Austin Hollowell led the Wildcats at the plate by going 3-4.  The 'Cats are now 13-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference and return to action on Friday when they host Adams Central at 5:00.


JV Loses at Columbia City

On Wednesday, the JV lost at Columbia City, 13-0.  The 'Cats are now 0-9 and return to action on Thursday when they host West Noble at 5:00.


JV Game With Triton Cancelled

The JV game with Trioton scheduled for May 4th has been cancelled.  Triton does not have enough players.


#5 Varsity Rallies Late to Defeat Columbia City, Wins County Championship at Parkview Field

On Tuesday, the Class 2A #5 Varsity scored 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Columbia City, 12-5.  And with their previous win over Churubusco, the Wildcats have now claimed the 2017 Whitley County Championship.  River West picked up the win in Relief of Zach Morris.  West went 4 innings allowing only one earned run, while Morris went 3 innings allowing four earned runs.  Drew Bradford went 2-3, Bailey Platt went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Zach Hewitt went 2-4 with 2 RBI.  Austin Hollowell added a double.  The 'Cats are now 13-1 and return to action on Wednesday when they host Southwood in a key TRC game slated for 5:00.


#5 Varsity Holds On Against Tippecanoe Valley

On Monday, the Class 2A #5 Varsity held on to beat TRC rival Tippecanoe Valley at home, 5-2.  Drew Bradford improved to 5-0 by allowing only one earned run in six and two-thirds innings.  River West earned the save by getting the final out with the bases loaded.  Bradford also went 3-4 at the plate, while Alex Bechtold went 2-3 with a double and RBI.  Zach Hewitt also had a double and RBI.  The 'Cats are now 12-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference and return to action on Tuesday when they battle county rival Columbia City at Parkview Field in Fort Wayne at 4:30.


#7 Varsity Defeats Lakeland

On Friday, the Class 2A #7 Varsity defeated the visiting Lakeland Lakers, 8-5.  Alex Robbins picked up the win by not allowing an earned run in six innings.  River West led the Wildcat offensive attack by going 3-3 with 4 RBI's.  The 'Cats are now 11-1 and return to action on Monday when they host TRC rival Tippecanoe Valley at 5:00.

Thursday's (4-20) Varsity game with New has been postponed.  A new date will be announced soon.


Bradford Fires No-Hitter, #7 Varsity Wins Conference Opener

On Wednesday, Drew Bradford fired a no-hitter while striking out 14 in leading the Class 2A #7 Varsity to a 3-0 win over visiting Maconaquah in their conference opener.  Collecting hits for the Wildcats were River West, Bailey Platt, and Austin Hollowell.  The 'Cats are now 10-1 overall and 1-0 in conference and return to action on Thursday when they host New Haven at 5:00.


JV Falls at Lakeland

On Wednesday, the JV lost at Lakeland, 12-1.  The 'Cats are now 0-8 and return to action next Wednesday when they travel to Columbia City at 5:00.


JV Falls at Home to North Miami

On Tuesday, the JV lost at home to North Miami, 8-2.  The 'Cats are now 0-7 and return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Lakeland at 5:00.


#7 Varsity Score Early, Often to Beat West Noble, 11-3

On Monday, the Class 2A #7 Varsity won at home over West Noble, 11-3.  Zach Morris picked up his second win of the season by allowing only two earned runs in four innings of work.  Bailey Platt did not allow an earned run in relief to earn a three-inning save.  Alex Bechtold led the Wildcat offensive attack by going 2-3 with four RBI's.  The 'Cats are now 9-1 and return to action on Wednesday at 5:00 when they host Maconaquah in theie Three Rivers Conference opener.


#10 Varsity Splits Doubleheader with Heritage

On Saturday, the Varsity split a doubleheader with the visiting Heritage Patriots, winning game one, 5-4 and losing game two, 6-5.  In the game one win, Alex Robbins earned the win by allowing only one earned run in five innings.  Zach Morris picked up the save by throwing two innings of solid relief.  Zach Hewitt went 3-4 with a home run and 2 RBI's, Drew Bradford went 2-3 with a double, and Austin Hollowell went 2-3.  In the game two loss, River West suffered the loss allowing six earned runs over five innings.  Landen Goff threw two scoreless innings of relief.  Goff also went 2-3 with a home run and 2 RBI's.  The 'Cats are now 8-1 and return to action on Monday when they host West Noble at 5:00.


JV Drops Doubleheader at Wabash

On Saturday, the JV lost a doubleheader at Wabash, 21-11 and 16-3.  The 'Cats are now 0-6 and return to action on Tuesday when they host conference foe North Miami at 5:00.


#10 Varsity Wins at Lakewood Park, Moves to 7-0

On Thursday, the Varsity won at Lakewood Park, 11-1 in six innings.  Bailey Platt earned the win by throwing five shutout innings and only allowing one hit while striking out four.  Austin Hollowell went 2-3 with 3 RBI's.  Alex Robbins went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI's.  The 'Cats are now 7-0 and return to action on Saturday when they host Heritage in a doubleheader at 11:00.


JV Loses at Maconaquah

On Friday, the JV lost at Maconaquah, 10-2.  The 'Cats are now 0-4 and return to action on Saturday when they travel to Wabash for a doubleheader at 11:00.

On Thursday, the JV lost at home to Caston, 18-6.  The 'Cats are now 0-3 and return to action on Friday when they travel to Maconaquah at 5:00.


JV Game vs. Heritage Rescheduled

The JV game with Heritage scheduled for Friday, April 21st has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 10th.


#10 Varsity wins at Wawasee, Now 6-0

On Tuesday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity won at Northern Lakes Conference foe Wawasee, 3-1.  The Wildcats rode the arm of senior Drew Bradford who threw a complete game two-hitter with thirteen strikeouts in his seven innings of work.  River West, Zach Hewitt, and Bradford each collected singles while Zach Morris and Austin Hollowell each had a RBI.  The 'Cats are now 6-0 and return to action on Thursday when they travel to Lakewood Park at 5:00.


JV Loses to Wawasee

On Tuesday, the JV lost at home to the Wawasee Warriors, 15-1.  The 'Cats are now 0-2 and return to action on Thursday when they host Caston at 5:30.


Varsity Sweeps Bluffton, Moves to 5-0

In their home opener on Saturday, the Varsity swept a doubleheader from visiting Bluffton, 8-7 in ten innings and 10-0 in five innings.  In the game one extra inning win, the Wildcats trailed 6-3 in the bottom of the 7th inning until Drew Bradford tied the game with a three-run home run.  Bradford also tied the game in the bottom of the 10th inning with an infield single and finished 4-6 with 2 doubles, a home run, and 6 RBI's along with picking up the win in relief.  Zach Hewitt went 2-4 with a double.  Landen Goff and River West each added two singles.  In the game two, starter Alex Robbins earned the win by firing a two-hit complete game shutout.  Alex Bechtold led the Wildcat offense by going 3-4 with a double.  Austin Hollowell added a double and 3 RBI's.  Zach Hewitt and Ryan each doubled.  The 'Cats are now 5-0 and return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Wawasee at 5:00.


Varsity Sweeps Marion, Moves to 3-0

On Saturday, the Varsity swept a doubleheader from the host Marion, 6-2 and 6-3.  In the game one win, Zach Morris won his Wildcat pitching debut by allowing only one earned run while striking out five in four innings of work.  Drew Bradford threw three innings of scoreless relief to earn the save.  At the plate, Alex Bechtold went 2-3 with 2 stolen bases.  Landen Goff added a double.  In the game two win, River West earned the mound victory by allowing only three earned runs while striking out six in the complete game effort.  Offensively, Drew Bradford went 2-3 with 2 RBI's and Austin Hollowell added 2 hits.  Zach Hewitt and Alex Robbins each doubled for the Wildcats.  The Varsity is now 3-0 and returns to action on Saturday, April 8th when they host Bluffton in a doubleheader at 11:00.


JV Game vs. Columbia City Postponed & Rescheduled (3-30)

Thursday's (3-30) JV game vs. Columbia City has been postponed due to wet field conditions and rescheduled for Wednesday, April 26th at Columbia City at 5:00.


Varsity Wins Season Opener

On Tuesday in Turtle Town, the Varsity opened their season with a 17-6 win in six innings over county rival Churubusco.  With the win, the Wildcats have now beaten the Eagles eight consecutive time dating back to the 2011 season.  Drew Bradford picked up the win by allowing only one earned run while striking out four in four innings or work.  Zach Hewitt led the Wildcat offensive attack by going 2-3 with a home run, double, and five RBI's.   Zach Morris went 2-3 with 3 RBI's and Drew Bradford went 2-4 with 2 RBI's.  Landen Goff added a double.  The Wildcats return to action this Saturday when they travel to Marion to battle the Giants in their first doubleheader of the season at 11:00.


JV Loses Opener

On Tuesday in South Whitley, the JV lost their season opener to the Churubusco Eagles, 11-0.  They return to action on Thursday when they host the Columbia City Eagles at 5:00.
