Bradford & Bechtold Named All-State
Drew Bradford and Alex Bechtold have been selected to the 2017 IHSBCA Class 2A All-State team. Bradford earned First Team All-State honors as a pitcher. He went 9-1 with a 1.02 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 75 and 1/3 innings pitched. Bechtold earned Honorable Mention All-State honors as an outfielder. He hit .319 with 1 home run, 4 doubles, 20 RBI's, 25 walks, 40 runs, and 18 stolen bases.
Bradford Named North-South All-Star
Drew Bradford has named to the North All-Star Team in the upcoming IHSBCA North-South All-Star Series from July 14-16 at Ball State University. With the honor, Bradford becomes just the second Wildcat in program history, joining outfielder Zach Snep in 2015, to play in the prestigious event.
Bradford Named District Player of the Year
Drew Bradford has been named IHSBCA District I Player of the Year. With the award, Bradford becomes the first player in program history to be named an IHSBCA District Player of the Year.

The awards banquet will be on Tuesday, June 13th at 6:30 in the WHS commons/cafeteria. Please bring all school issued uniforms and pants, and your program issued playbook to turn in. All uniforms and pants must be washed. If for some reason you can't make the awards banquet, you must make arrangements with Coach Hisner to turn everything in.
#10 Varsity Ends Season With Loss to Wapahani in Regional
On Saturday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity ended their season with a loss to Wapahani in the Regional semi-finals, 6-0. Drew Bradford suffered his first loss of the season despite only giving up two earned runs in 7 innings. The Wildcats could only muster three hits against Wapahani pitching as Landen Goff, Drew Bradford, and Bailey Platt each had a single. The 'Cats finish their historic season at 21-10.
#10 Varsity Defeats #12 Cass to Earn First Sectional Champeionship
On Monday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity defeated Class 2A #12 Cass, 5-3, to win the first Sectional Championship in school history. Drew Bradford picked up his single season school record tying 9th win of the season by throwing 5.2 innings and allowing 3 earned runs while striking out 7. River West notched his 2nd save of the season by hurling 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Bradford also led the Wildcat offense by going 2-4 and driving in the winning runs with a 2 run single in the 5th inning that broke a 3-3 tie. His 34 RBI's also set a single season school record. Spencer Sroufe continued his postseason hot streak by going 2-3 with a double. The 'Cats are now 21-9 and return to action on Saturday when they battle Wapahani at 1:00 in the Class 2A Wabash Regional.
#10 Varsity Walks-Off Rochester in Extras, Advances to Sectional Championship Game
On Saturday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity got a walk-off double from Landen Goff in the bottom of the 8th inning to defeat Rochester, 4-3, in 8 innings in the Class 2A Sectional #37 Semi-Finals in Wabash. Drew Bradford picked up the win by throwing 4 innings of scoreless relief. Starter Alex Robbins allowed only 2 earned runs in 4 innings. Spencer Sroufe went 2-3 with a double, Bailey Platt went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, Bradford went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Goff went 2-4 with his game-winning double. With the win, the 'Cats improve to 20-9 (their 6th consecutive 20-win season), but more importantly advance to the Sectional Championship Game against Cass on Monday at 6:00 at Wabash High School.
#10 Varsity Drops Regular Season Finale
On Tuesday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity lost their regular season finale at home against Central Noble, 9-3. Austin Hollowell suffered the loss allowing 5 earned runs in 4 innings. Bailey Platt led the Wildcat offense by going 2-2 with a double. The 'Cats finish the regular season 19-9 and return to action on Saturday when they play Rochester in the Class 2A Sectional #37 Semi-Finals at Wabash High School at 3:00.

On Tuesday, the JV lost at Peru, 9-4. The 'Cats finish their season with a 1-18 record.
#10 Varsity Drops Another Extra Inning Heartbreaker at Bellmont
On Monday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity lost another extra-inning heartbreaker at Bellmont, 3-2 in 8 innings. Drew Bradford got a no-decision despite not allowing an earned run in in 7 innings while striking out 7. Bradford ends the regular season with a 7-0 record, 1 save, a 0.72 ERA and 89 K's in 58.2 IP. Alex Bechtold led the Wildcat offense by going 3-4 with a double. Landen Goff went 2-2 and reached base in all 4 plate appearances. The 'Cats are now 19-8 and return to action on Tuesday against Central Noble at 5:00 in their regular season finale.

On Wednesday, the Class 2A #10 ranked Varsity was upset at North Miami, 8-5. Alex Robbins suffered the pitching loss. River West had two hits, Landen Goff hit a two-run home run, and Drew Bradford, Zach Hewitt, and Austin Hollowell added doubles. The 'Cats are now 18-7 overall and finish the conference loop at 5-4. They return to action on Saturday when they travel to Prairie Heights for a doubleheader at 10:00.

JV Gets First Win, Finishes as Runner-Up at Own Invitational
On Saturday, the JV defeated Central Noble, 11-10, for their first win of the season in the first round of the Whitko Invitational. In the championship, they lost to Northwood, 21-1. The 'Cats are now 1-15 and return to action on Monday when they host county rival Columbia City at 5:00.

On Monday, the Class 2A #7 Varsity split a doubleheader with Wabash, winning the conference game, 9-3, and losing the non-conference game, 10-9. In the conference game win, Alex Robbins picked up his 4th win of the season by not allowing an earned run in 7 innings while striking out 3. Zach Hewitt went 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI's, Alex Bechtold went 2-2 with 3 RBI's, and Drew Bradford went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. In the non-conference game loss, the Wildcats blew a five run lead by committing 8 errors. Landen Goff went 3-4 with 2 doubles. The 'Cats are now 17-4 and 4-2 in the conference. On Monday, the Class 2A #7 Varsity's offensive woes continued as they got no-hit by Northfield's Blake Harner in a 1-0 loss. The Wildcats wasted a tremendous pitching performance by Alex Robbins. He surrendered only an unearned run and 6 hits while striking out 4 and walking 0 in 7 innings. #5 Varsity Rallies Late to Defeat Columbia City, Wins County Championship at Parkview Field
On Tuesday, the Class 2A #5 Varsity scored 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Columbia City, 12-5. And with their previous win over Churubusco, the Wildcats have now claimed the 2017 Whitley County Championship. River West picked up the win in Relief of Zach Morris. West went 4 innings allowing only one earned run, while Morris went 3 innings allowing four earned runs. Drew Bradford went 2-3, Bailey Platt went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Zach Hewitt went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Austin Hollowell added a double. The 'Cats are now 13-1 and return to action on Wednesday when they host Southwood in a key TRC game slated for 5:00.

On Monday, the Class 2A #5 Varsity held on to beat TRC rival Tippecanoe Valley at home, 5-2. Drew Bradford improved to 5-0 by allowing only one earned run in six and two-thirds innings. On Tuesday, the Class 2A #10 Varsity won at Northern Lakes Conference foe Wawasee, 3-1. The Wildcats rode the arm of senior Drew Bradford who threw a complete game two-hitter with thirteen strikeouts in his seven innings of work. River West, Zach Hewitt, and Bradford each collected singles while Zach Morris and Austin Hollowell each had a RBI. The 'Cats are now 6-0 and return to action on Thursday when they travel to Lakewood Park at 5:00.

On Tuesday, the JV lost at home to the Wawasee Warriors, 15-1. The 'Cats are now 0-2 and return to action on Thursday when they host Caston at 5:30.
Varsity Sweeps Bluffton, Moves to 5-0
In their home opener on Saturday, the Varsity swept a doubleheader from visiting Bluffton, 8-7 in ten innings and 10-0 in five innings. In the game one extra inning win, the Wildcats trailed 6-3 in the bottom of the 7th inning until Drew Bradford tied the game with a three-run home run. Bradford also tied the game in the bottom of the 10th inning with an infield single and finished 4-6 with 2 doubles, a home run, and 6 RBI's along with picking up the win in relief. Zach Hewitt went 2-4 with a double. Landen Goff and River West each added two singles. In the game two, starter Alex Robbins earned the win by firing a two-hit complete game shutout. Alex Bechtold led the Wildcat offense by going 3-4 with a double. Austin Hollowell added a double and 3 RBI's. Zach Hewitt and Ryan Day each doubled. In the game two win, River West earned the mound victory by allowing only three earned runs while striking out six in the complete game effort. Varsity Wins Season Opener

With the win, the Wildcats have now beaten the Eagles eight consecutive times dating back to the 2011 season. Zach Hewitt led the Wildcat offensive attack by going 2-3 with a home run, double, and five RBI's. Zach Morris went 2-3 with 3 RBI's and Drew Bradford went 2-4 with 2 RBI's.
