  • Learn the Rules
Learning the rules can be to your advantage!

It is the players responsibility to learn the rules of golf. This helps provide integrity to the game. You should play by the rules even when you play alone, for leisure etc. Getting into this habit is a great idea and the rules can often help you. The rules are not solely meant for defining penalties! Often one can take relief to where it will help your shot or situation. Of course if you attempt to apply a use a rule and do so incorrectly, even though you may be allowed a free drop etc., can cost you a penalty stroke or loss of hole in match play.

Often several rules have come up which even coaches don''t always know the answers to, this is when we may call upon the local pro shop at the course as they are sometimes related to the local course. Just about everything that can be addressed in golf is in the USGA rulebook. They are the official governing body to for the United States rule of golf.

For our high school tournaments, when in doubt and a coach cannot be reached it''s best to play out a hole with two balls through the green (into the hole) and the coaches can decide which was the correct ruling.

  • Excellent Online Lesson videos from Jimmy Ballard
Jimmy is a long time professional instructor of the game, this collection of quick videos are some of the best in the industry. He has not modified his methods in over 30 yrs of teaching, many of his concepts apply to some of the very issues I have seen while working with our team swings. I will gladly help you understand how many of these will apply to your game. Please review in particular the following:

Role of the left arm in the swing
    Why golfers slice and hook
    Triangle in the swing
    The Right position and Stance
    Simplifying the swing
    Left shoulder connection

    they are all good!

  • Tom Wishon Golf
Tom Wishon Golf Technology is recognized as the highest quality designer of high performance original clubheads, shafts, grips and fitting technology products used by independent professional custom clubmakers around the world.
“I completely respect the work that the large golf equipment companies pursue in their quality and R&D, but my 30 plus years in golf club research has proven that the best set of golf clubs any golfer will ever buy will be a set of true custom made clubs, fit and built by a professional clubmaker using the very best quality and performing clubhead, shaft and grip designs.” Tom Wishon

Even the pros are completely custom fitted, they simply have this done by the big companies, those companies just don't always offer this service down to the non-pros although some do (Ping, Titleist). Often you will see a headcover for a drive on tour, but it's just the head cover not the actual club!
