The Greater Pittsburgh Federation League has been around since 1929. In 1999, the league adopted a policy that required all teams switch to wood bats instead of aluminum bats.

In the Federation League, the Regular Season champion gets an automatic bid into the NABF Regional in Youngstown, OH. Starting in 2011, the GPFL decided to send its top 2 regular season teams to the NABF Regionals.  Starting in 2013, our league has hosted NABF Regionals here in the Pittsburgh area.
