2- Game times for the 2013 season will be as follows:
2a-When the umpire designates last batter, the defensive team may not walk the batter (intentionally or not) to preserve a win OR tie. If this happens the offensive team will be permitted another batter until the batter puts the ball into play or strikes out.
3- The times listed above will be strictly adhered to. The home plate umpire will be responsible for enforcing these rules and :
• Any player arriving after the official game time, regardless of whether or not the game has commenced will be obliged to bat after the last regular spot in the line-up. (i.e. If the 10th player arrives 1 minute after the scheduled game time he must start on the bench, if the 8th and 9th player’s arrive 1 and 2 minutes after game time they must bat in the 8th and 9th spots in the order respectively).
• A team must field a team as soon as they can field 7 players, which must include at least 5 regulars.
4 -Each team must have a minimum of 5 regular team members and 7 players overall present to start a game.
5 -A team may pick up a maximum of 3 spares (i.e. if you have only 5 team members you can max out at 8 total players).
6 -Spares may not play pitcher. They also must bat after all of the regular starting players.
7 -Spares may be used to finish a game if a player has to leave before the end of the game.
8 -If a regular team member arrives late he may only replace a spare defensively at the end of the half inning in play. If a player shows up to replace a spare they must replace the spare of the closest round and bat in him position. (At this point you can have a spare batting 7th, then a reg players batting 8th and then a spare batting 9th.
9 -Missing players may be replaced by spares drafted in the same or one round higher (example a 5th rounder can be replaced by a 4th or lower, unless agreed to by the opposing captain). League players must be asked to play before external spares. Captains using external spares will be charged $5 per spare.
11 -Any player ejected from a game must leave the playing field or the game will be forfeited to the opposing team.
12 -Fighting during a game will result in the automatic ejection of the players involved and a minimum 1 game suspension.
13 -Deliberate attempt to injure will result in the automatic ejection of the offending player.
14 -Shadow tags may, at the umpire’s discretion, result in :
• The ejection of the offending player AND / OR
• The advancement of the runner and any runner forced ahead by his advancement.
15 -Any suspension will commence immediately after the suspension is assessed. Suspended players are ineligible to spare for the duration of their suspension.
16 -Substitutions may take place at any time during the game. Each person substituted for must play at least three full innings in the batting lineup. The same applies to the original player. A player substituted for, may return to the game taking the place of the person who replaced him only (i.e. starter may return in 7th inning if he was replaced after three innings). Defensive substitutions can be made freely at the start of each defensive inning. (i.e. players may substitute in and out defensively regardless of if they are in the batting lineup). Each player should play at least 3 innings defensively.
17- A team may bat 10 or 11 and make unlimited substitions however the DH may not be used. The team will still field 9 players. If someone leaves, gets injured or get ejected the line up will be shorten.
19 -Baserunner’s may only leave their base once the ball has left the pitcher’s hand. Violation of this rule will result in a dead ball and the baserunner being called out.
20 -Stealing home plate is not permitted unless a secondary play is made (to another base, or a pickoff attempt) or the ball is returned to the pitcher and is uncontrolled outside the pitcher’s circle.
21 -Ejected players can not be replaced by spares. A regular team member may replace an ejected player even if the regular player has already been removed from the game.
22 -A player who is injured during the course of a game, may, at the umpire’s discretion be replaced by a spare.
23 -Defaulted game score will be 7-0.
24 -Regular season tie breakers will be : Wins, Head-to-Head, Run Differential of Head-to-Head, Total Run Differential, Runs For, Coin Toss
25 -The DH rule may be used. Both the DH and the player being DH’d for must play the entire game.
26 -Players are not required to slide at home plate on close plays. The catcher is obliged to give a clear path to home plate, failure to do so will result in the runner being called safe. The runner may not initiate contact at home plate. Doing so will be ruled as an attempt to injure resulting in a dead ball and the baserunner being called out. Further discipline (i.e. ejection) may be enforced at the umpire’s discretion.
27 –Before the start of a game each player may designate one player who will use a pinch-runner during the game. Any players not designated before the start of the game will require the agreement of the opposing captain. The player pinch running should be the last out for the offensive team.
28 –Any player acting as a pinch-runner will not be permitted to steal or advance on wild pitches or passed balls.
29 -Any player using a pinch runner will not be allowed to advance past first base after hitting the ball except in the case of a home run over the fence, ground rule double or ball thrown out of play. This applies to both advancing on the originally batted ball or subsequent errors or secondary plays ( throws to other bases).
30- Each team can score a maximum of 6 runs per half inning. The 6th and 7th innings will always be open.
Playoff Rules
All rules will be the same for the playoffs with the following exceptions:
All playoff games will be 7 inning games with extra innings in the case of a tie after regulation.
Each team must have 7 players to start a game, there will be a spare list provided to captains, who may use a maximum of two spares to replace absent regulars.
Only players on the authorized spare list will be permitted.
Substitutions may take place at any time during the game. Each person substituted for must play at least two full innings. The same applies to the original player. A player substituted for, may return to the game taking the place of the person who replaced him only. (i.e. starter may return in 5th inning if he was replaced after two innings).
Each spot in the batting order can only be split by a maximum of two players. (i.e. three players can not play 2, 2, and 3 innings in one spot in the batting order).
If a player (regular or spare) is injured during the game he may be replaced a regular team member whether or not the replacement player has already played in the game. If no regular team player is available the injured player may be replaced by an eligible spare from the spare list. If no spare is available the team must continue “shorthanded”.
The committee will make a list of eligible spares for the playoffs before the playoffs begin.
Pinchrunners must be agreed on by both captains before the start of the game.
