Official EBWB Rule Book

Batting

1. Three strikes is an out, four balls is a walk. Batters may choose to not take the walk the first set of four balls, but if four more are thrown then they must take it.

2. Hit by pitches are ruled as a ball.

3. Players must alternate at bats. The same player may not bat twice in a row. The only exception is in the case of injuries.

4. If a batter has two strikes and they foul tip a pitch into the strike zone, that is considered the third strike and the batter is out.

5. Bunting is legal. If a player attempts to bunt with two strikes and fouls the bunt, they are out.

6. If a pitch is lobbed way up and comes down and hits the strike zone, it will be judged based on where it was when it crossed the plate. Unless a ball is lobbed up, if it hits the strike zone tarp it is a strike.

7. Balls must be thrown back to the pitcher. If a batter decides to hit the balls back to the pitcher, they will get one strike added to their count for time wasting.

Pitching

1. All pitchers must pitch from the official pitching rubber 36 feet away from home plate. The only exception is if the player is under 12 years of age.

2. Pitchers may only throw one ball at a time. Throwing two balls in an attempt to distract the batter will result in a walk.

3. The pitcher must wait for the batter to be in the box before they can pitch. If the batter is in the box but not paying attention, the pitcher may throw.

4. Any type of pitch is legal as long as it doesn't put the safety of others at risk.

5. If a player is substitued out of pitching in an inning, they may not be substitued back in to pitch in that same inning.

League Rules

1. The ball must reach the little hill in the infield to be considered fair.

2. Since there are no foul lines, fouls will be called by player judgement. If another player disagrees, the decision will go to video review (if recorded) or a majority vote. Foul poles are there to judge if a home run is foul or not. Batters will use the honest system to confirm if it is indeed fair.

3. Overthrows that go out of bounds will give the base runner one extra base. If an overthrow occurs but the ball is still in fair territory, the base runner may keep running but at their own risk.

4. Hit balls that happen to go through the fence will result in a ground rule double.

5. A player can get an out by force out, tag with the ball, and peg. Runners can also get out if they are at least half way to home from third base and the ball is thrown into the back stop.

6. 3 inning games, 3 outs per inning.

7. Mercy rule is 10 runs.

8. A team is allowed to have up to 3 players on the field.
