MISSION

The purposes of the Georgia Lethal Basketball Club is to initiate, stimulate, and improve opportunities for amateur basketball competition, and to promote and develop leadership, sportsmanship, physical fitness, educational opportunities, and academic and athletic excellence.

GOAL

The goals are to provide an atmosphere with excellent coaching, high levels of competition for local High School male athletes looking to improve their skills, while emphasizing the importance of education, ultimately providing an opportunity for those boys who desire to compete on a competitive level and exposure to college coaches.

SPORTSMANSHIP

It is the obligation of coaches, players, administrators, volunteers, and other representatives of the Georgia Lethal Basketball Club to practice the highest principles of sportsmanship and to observe the ethics of competition. Good sportsmanship is defined as qualities of behavior, which are characterized by courtesy and genuine concern for others. The display of good sportsmanship is a statement of the individual's understanding and commitment to fair play, ethical behavior, and integrity.

AMATEURISM

Neither athletes, players, coaches, volunteers, nor supporters shall violate the amateur status of competitors. We shall not directly or indirectly receive pay or financial benefits in consideration of or as a reward for participating in athletic competition. Georgia Lethal Basketball Club will not accept shoes, articles of clothing, or non-medical equipment unless like items are provided to all members of the teams.

ATHLETICS AND EDUCATION

Athletic competition is good unto itself, and opportunities for participation need not be restricted to individuals representing academic or scholastic institutions. However, we recognize athletics can be a powerful tool for shaping the educational development of young people and for the enhancement of educational opportunities for its participants. We will consider the academic well being of our athletes, and ensure that participation in ameture athletics activities does not adversely affect their academic progress. We will cooperate with the athlete and his parent(s) to strike an appropriate balance among academic, social and athletic activities.
