WHAT IS AAU?
The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, sports organizations in the United States. AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GEORGIA LETHAL BASKETBALL CLUB?
Participation in the Georgia Lethal Basketball Club requires a strong financial and time commitment from both players and parents. Although the Georgia Lethal Basketball Club is a non-profit organization, expenses to run the program are passed onto the participants. Typical costs to participate include equipment, gym fees, uniforms, tournaments, travel, etc. All costs will be divided among all team members whether they play in a tournament or not.

Our ultimate goal is to obtain ongoing financial support from the community and local businesses so that we can offer a tuition free, quality recreational environment for all participants. Parental involvement in this area is critical to reaching this goal.

WHY IS AAU BASKETBALL SO EXPENSIVE?
Georgia Lethal Basketball Club membership fees are reasonable and less costly than many other AAU organizations. Each tournament games typically range from $300 - $600. Coupled with other expenses, the fee to participate for each player can be quite costly.

The staff and coaches of the Georgia Lethal Basketball Club are volunteers and provide their assistance as a service to the players and community. Participants are responsible for paying tournament fees, uniforms, equipment, first aid supplies, gym fees, AAU registration, and other direct costs to the Georgia Lethal Basketball  Club. The organization strongly encourages each family to participate in fundraisers and to acquire sponsors to minimize and/or eliminate any out of pocket expenses that they may incur.

WHEN WILL TOURNAMENT GAMES BE HELD?
Tournament games will be held Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. On Fridays teams will typically play one game and on Saturdays 2 games. Tournaments are hosted all across Georgia (metro Atlanta area) and some teams may travel to other states. On occasion, special arrangements will need to be made to ensure that players arrive to games on time. Please contact the Georgia Lethal Basketball Club Team Manager or Team Coach ASAP to communicate your needs.

WHEN WILL SCHEDULES OF TOURNAMENT GAMES BE PROVIDED?
The Georgia Lethal Basketball Club has no control over when schedules are posted. Typically, AAU will post tournament schedules late Wednesday evening prior to the weekend of competition; however, if the tournament director has to make changes it may be later than anticipated. Once a schedule is received, team manager or coaches will post the information on the Georgia Lethal Basketball Club website and email a copy of the schedule to each parent.

HOW MUCH PLAYING TIME WILL MY CHILD RECEIVE?
Individual development must occur within the context of team competition. Therefore, Georgia Lethal Basketball Club does not adhere to a minimum or guaranteed amount of playing time for any player in a game. Coaches shall be encouraged to use all players in every game but player participation is at the coaches' discretion. Numerous factors can play into the amount of playing time each player receives (e.g., participation at practice, attendance at tournaments, attitude, etc.). Each coach will explain their philosophy on selection day. If you have any additional questions regarding our policies, please refer to the Georgia Lethal Basketball Club Player/Parent Handbook.

HOW MUCH TRAVELING IS INVOLVED?
Most tournaments will be played in the metro Atlanta area, typically in Gwinnett and Cobb counties. However, on occasion, some coaches may elect to play tournaments in locations that may require an over night stay. The amount of travel is at the discretion of each coach.

HOW OFTEN WILL TEAMS PRACTICE?
The Georgia Lethal Basketball Club will practice 1 ½ hours three time a week.

MY CHILD DOESN'T ATTEND A SCHOOL IN COBB COUNTY. CAN THEY STILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE GEORGIA LETHAL BASKETBALL CLUB?
Absolutely! Coaches will select the best players available for each team. Parents should be mindful of transportation needs.

MY CHILD PLAYS ANOTHER SPORT. CAN THEY STILL PARTICIPATE WITH THE GEORGIA LETHAL BASKETBALL CLUB?
Yes. School sport activities are critical to the academic, athletic and social growth of all participants. Players are encouraged to compete in another sport; however, doing so will require that they effectively balance the two commitments as they will have to be fair to both sports.

Please be mindful that while our coaches support players participating in multiple sports, excessive absenteeism can effect playing time and lessen the benefits of the Georgia Lethal Basketball Club experience.
