Head Coach: Brandon Grant

This is Coach Grant's first year as the Head Coach of the McCallum Knights. Coach Grant was born and raised in Austin, TX. He earned his Bachelors Degree in History from the University of Texas at Austin and his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Stephen F. Austin. Coach Grant is married to Taylor Grant, who can be spotted with their Great Dane "Moose" at McCallum home games.  Coach Grant was previously the Head Coach at Lago Vista, where he had a Record of 82-19 and reached the Regional Finals in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Coach Grant is also the Defensive Line coach and Special Teams Coordinator for the Knights Varsity Football team.  Coach Grant is extremely excited to be taking over at McCallum and calls McCallum a "dream job" due to the winning tradition of the program that represents the best AISD has to offer. 


Varsity Assistant: Steve Searle

This is Coach Searle's first year at McCallum High School, and his 28th year as a High School baseball coach. Coach Searle earned his Bachelors degree from Nebraska University and his Masters in School Administration from Azusa Pacific University. Coach Searle currently teaches Math at McCallum. Coach Searle is married to long time Knight Nancy Honeycutt-Searle who is the head coach of the McCallum Blue Brigade dance team. Coach Searle previously coached Baseball at Rialto High School in Southern California, was Coach Grant's Assistant Coach at Lago Vista from 2014-2017, and was the Head Coach of the Vikings during the 2018 Season. Coach Searle is a Father of 6 and a Grandfather of 4. Coach Searle is also the Linebackers coach for the Knight's Varsity Football team. 

JV-A Coach/Varsity Assistant: Brad Bernard

This is Coach Bernard's first year at McCallum. Coach Bernard earned his Bachelors degree from Nichols State University and his Masters in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. Coach Bernard moved to Austin from Louisiana in 2017, he spent one year at East View High School in Georgetown, TX Coaching Football and Wrestling before making the move to McCallum. Coach Bernard looks forward to skippering the Knights JVA team where he will teach an aggressive brand of baseball in which he defines as "Gorilla-Ball".

JV-B Coach: Ray Amaro

Coach Amaro will manage the JV-B baseball team this season for the 10th year in a row.  Coach Amaro is also a football coach and he leads the wrestling teams at McCallum.  And, he serves as Director of the Physical Education Department. This season will mark Coach Amaro's 18th year of service on the Knights coaching staff. He is a graduate of Texas Lutheran University and earned a Master of Education degree from Prairie View A&M. Coach Amaro has accumulated 36 years of coaching experience at Robstown ISD, La Joya ISD, Johnston HS and McCallum High School, as well as 20 years in the Marine Corps Reserve. He and his wife Rose have six children: Christina, Raymond Jr., Carlos, Anna-Alicia, Amanda and Ramona.


Athletic Trainer Matt Johnson

Matt Johnson is in his 3rd year as the Head Athletic Trainer at McCallum.  Previous to joining the McCallum staff, he was the Athletic Trainer for the Spirit Teams at The University of Texas. Matt is from Iowa and completed his undergraduate degree in Athletic Training at Simpson College. He moved to Austin in 2008 to work on a Master's degree at The University of Texas.
