N.E.O. Freeze Fastpitch

About Us

We are a Tournament Fastpitch team organization dedicated to the development of young ladies into competitive softball athletes.

This organization is not about developing its image as a premier organization but about developing players to be premier athletes. This includes development of softball skills as well as the traits of sportsmanship and mutual respect.

Players will be coached along the guidelines, techniques, and strategies used by USA Softball. There will be consistency in what is taught by all coaches which falls under the teaching directives of USA softball. We may also implement core defensive training including footwork, throwing, and defensive skills developed by Howard Kobata.  Micaela Minner, former Akron Racer and Univ of Missouri player, life coach, former Aurora H.S. coach may be utilized as hitting instructor/coach during some of our hitting practices.

If available in OH, Coaches will have opportunity to attend the ASA/USA National Coaching Clinic. This clinic, taught over three days, will instill philosophies, drills, and attitudes from current college coaches, former USA Olympic Softball and/or current USA Softball coaches, which N.E.O. Freeze coaches can utilize in practices and games.

Players, and parents will be required to sign a pledge/code of conduct which outlines their responsibility to good sportsmanship, attitude, and respect towards their teammates, parents, umpires, coaches, and opponents.

All Coaches will be required to be successfully complete a Background Check through ASA Softball, and the Head Coach and one Assistant Coach must attain and maintain ACE certification throughout each season.

Organizational Structure

The Organization is currently set up as an Ohio Not for Profit Corporation and recognized as a  501C (3) not-for-profit by the IRS.

Indoor and Outdoor Practices

All teams will have outdoor practices as determined by the Head Coach and will be age/grade determined. For example, younger age groups who do not have issues with OHSAA regulations may start their indoor practice time later in the season but may continue them into March leading up to their tournament schedule in the Spring/Summer.

Indoor practices will be combination of batting only instruction and field instruction. It is anticipated each team will get approximately 12 indoor sessions of hitting time and 12 indoor sessions of field time during the months of November-February. However, the coach will make the determination of practice frequency and instruction

Practices will be in the Brunswick/Strongsville/Medina areas for winter indoor practices. Outdoor practices may be in the same areas or as the Head Coach determines.

Tournaments

Each team will have the ability to participate in up to eight (8) tournaments each year from September to the following August as a part of their fees, dependent upon the timing of the collection of fees by the organization.

We would like teams to participate in three (3) of the same local tournaments to promote a sense of support and camaraderie. Coaches and parents will determine if the skill set of a specific team warrants out of town tournaments/travel. Any travel expenses associated with tournaments are the responsibility of the parents.

Teams may participate in additional tournaments or team camps on a "fee added" basis as agreed upon the Coach and parents of each team.

HOWEVER, such fundraisers must be approved by the Organization and all proceeds and expenses must be handled by the Organization

There will be one organizational fundraising activity during the playing year. Depending upon     the proceeds of this fundraiser, the proceeds will be used to defray organizational expenses, and possibly other team equipment for individual teams

SPIRIT WEAR can be ordered through the FREEZE website and Prep Sportswear. There may be other Spirit Wear opportunities offered throughout the year.
