All weather cancellation decisions shall be made by a single person designated by PVBL ("Weather Coordinator").  The current Weather Coordinator is Steve Cole.  The policy is summarized as follows:

Weather Cancellations

The Weather Coordinator shall use a combination of forecasts from Accuweather.com, the Weather Channel App, and future radar from WWLP in making cancellation decisions.

In the event of any ambiguity or uncertainty as to the forecast (i.e.: the forecast keeps changing from hour to hour) or field condition, all cancellation decisions shall be made at the sole discretion of the Weather Coordinator.

Weather Cancellation Announcements

If a game is cancelled pursuant to the above paragraph, the Weather Coordinator shall post a cancellation notice on the front page of the website.  This will be the only notification given (individual texts, emails, or calls will not be made or sent by the Weather Coordinator).

All cancelation announcements shall be posted to the PVBL website no later than 2 ½ hours prior to game time (by 3:30 pm for weekday games and 7:30 am for Saturday games).

If, on Friday night the forecast for Saturday morning predicts a high probability (i.e.: 75% or more) of rain during game time, the Weather Coordinator may cancel the game that night.

Scheduled Rain-Out Dates

There will be two (2) rainout makeup dates built into the PVBL schedule.  When a game is cancelled, the game shall be rescheduled to the first available makeup date.  If a game is rained out and there are no remaining makeup dates available, the game shall be made up at a date, time, and field to be determined by the managers and with the consent of the Board.

Lightning

All decisions to temporarily halt or cancel a game due to lightning shall be made at the discretion of the umpires.
