Solano Mustangs 2017 National Cheer Competition Teams

The Mustangs would like to invite you to join our 2017 National Cheer Competition Teams.  There will be two Competition Teams, one level 1 and one level 2/3, which will compete in at least 4 additional competitions outside of the regular season.  (There will be additional uniforms costs, competition registration fees and travel expenses associated with participation in these teams.  Fundraising options and extended payment plan is available.)

In order to participate on the Competition Team, a cheerleader must meet the following criteria: 1. He/She must have satisfactory grades, and 2. He/She must have had no disciplinary action in the current or previous season.

Evaluations for placement on the Competition Teams will be held at the end of August and practice will begin in October 16th.  The skills required to be placed on the advanced team are listed below. (There is no minimum skill requirement for beginning team).

·            Starts:

o   Tumbling: Front or back walkover, cartwheel, round off and forward or backward roll

o   Stunts: Full extension OR Scorpion, Scale, Heel Stretch or Bow & Arrow at prep  level

·            Rookies:

o  Tumbling: Front and Back walkover OR front or back walkover multiple sequence, round off, cartwheel, forward and backward roll

o   Stunts: Full extension AND Scorpion, Scale, Heel Stretch or Bow & Arrow at prep level (Fly or base)

·            Junior Varsity:

o  Tumbling: Front or back handspring OR front or back walkover in multiple sequence, roundoff, cartwheel, forward and backward roll

o   Stunts: Full extension INCLUDING Scorpion, Scale, Heel Stretch or Bow & Arrow (Fly or base)

·            Varsity:

o  Tumbling: Front or back handspring OR front or back walkover in multiple sequence, cartwheel, forward and backward roll

o  Stunts: Full extension INCLUDING Scorpion, Scale, Heel Stretch or Bow & Arrow, Tick Tock, Superman (Fly or base)

The Mustangs are gearing up for a championship season with exciting changes like brand new uniforms, Jamz cheer camp, USA Nationals in Disney's California Adventure and much more.  We invite you to come to one of our FREE clinics or in-person sign ups to make new friends, meet the coaches and see what the Mustangs are all about!

The 2017 Recreational Cheer Team season begins Monday, July 17th.  

Practices will be Monday - Friday from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Rodriguez High School.  

After school starts, practices will be Tuesday - Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30

Games will be Saturdays starting 8/19 - 10/21

Recreational Cheer Team competitions are scheduled for 10/8 (Six Flags) & 10/14 (League)

Uniform Fees:

Ages 6-14

Sideline Cheer: $185 – includes Sideline Uniform (shell, skirt and liner), shoes, 3 bows (Game, Pink October, Comp), camp shirt & shorts, and league competition.

Competition Cheer: $475 - includes Sideline Cheer package, Competition Uniform (competition shell & shorts), competition shoes, stunting/tumbling workshop and competition poms.

(Returners for 2018 will not need to purchase a new uniform provided fit is approved by director)

Ages 4-5

Mascot Cheer: $125 – includes: uniform (shell, skirt, liner, briefs), shoes, 2 bows, and league competition fee.

Uniform Fittings and Parent Meeting are scheduled for Thursday, July 13

 Beginning in January 2017, Solano Mustangs is offering FREE cheer clinics twice a month for kids age 5-14.  Participants get a chance to work on strength in stunting, flexibility for jumps, kicks and tumbling, sharpness in motions and sideline chants, while getting to know the coaches, making friends and getting some exercise in the fresh air.  There is no cost to families and everyone is welcome.  It's a great way for new families to acclimate themselves to the program and find out if cheer is really right for your child.  2017 season sign-ups will also be accepted at clinics.  Can't wait to see you all there!

For the first time in the organization's 12-year history, Solano Mustangs Cheer attended Jamz Youth Nationals in January 2016.  Two teams, comprised of 4 squads, spent countless hours practicing and perfecting their kicks, jumps, stunts and facials for their 2.5 minute routines at Nationals.  Armed with a wonderful group of dedicated and supportive parents, new uniforms and more spirit than you could imagine, 24 girls took over the stage and totally rocked it!  The board, coaches and families could not have been more proud of the blood, sweat and tears these girls put into giving it their all.  They cheered their hearts out, and had a blast.  And isn't that what going to Nationals is all about? GREAT JOB GIRLS!!!

The Mustangs is excited to announce that they plan to attend to take their Competition Team to Nationals again in 2017/18 and we are so excited to see them grow and develop as young ladies and athletes.  GO MUSTANGS!!!
