Practice Group Information and Criteria

Practices for the Spring/Summer 2025 season (May 5th - July 24th) will be held at Wilson Middle School. Below, you will find practice times and a description of each swim group:

**Practice time changes on the week of 6/16/25 once school lets out, keep an eye out for more information during that time**

Beginner: 4:30- 5:15 PM @ Wilson
Swimmers at the Novice level are learning the basic fundamentals of swimming with a major focus on freestyle and backstroke, emphasizing the kick and learning to breath correctly. Once a good understanding is met, they will move onto more advanced strokes such as breastroke and butterfly. In meets, swimmers typically swim 25 yard events as well as relays.

Intermediate: 5:15- 6:15 PM @ Wilson
Swimmers at the Intermediate level build off of the skills taught at the beginner level to more complex drills on all four competitive strokes. Flip turn work is introduced at this level and diving off of the blocks is another key element. In meets, swimmers compete in 50 yard events as well as relays.

Advanced: 6:30- 8:00 PM @ Wilson
Swimmers at the advanced level work mostly on training their aerobic/anaerobic capacities, but still participate in stroke/technique work weekly in all four strokes. Starts, turns, finishes and meet etiquette are emphasized with these swimmers. At meets, swimmers compete in 50 yard events, while our 15+ swimmers compete in 100 yard events at times as well as relays.

Items needed for practice:

  • Swimsuit
  • Goggles
  • Swim cap (each swimmer gets 1 free cap with the Wildcat logo)
  • Towel

  • A good attitude :)

If Wilson Middle School is closed for any of the following reasons; Staff Professional Development, Snow Day, Maintenance Issues, Federal Holiday, etc., there will be NO practice.

***Please refrain from communicating with your child during practice and meets unless it is an emergency; sideline coaching and general discussions can lead to distractions and miscommunication for everybody around.
