REDS LOSE TO INDIANS IN FINALS

September 19, 2012

The Reds were swept out of the C Division Finals 2 games to 0 by the South Jersey Indians. Game one was 12-1 with Chuck Haegele taking the loss and game two was 10-2 with Bob Creedon on the short end.

CALDWELL & CREEDON SELECTED FOR ALL-STAR GAME

Kristin Caldwell and Bob Creedon will represent the Reds in the 48+ All-Star game at Frawley Stadium, the home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks.


The game takes place on Saturday August 25, 2012 at 4:00 pm. Kristin and Bob will be members of the North division team (managed by Langhorne Phillies skipper Daryl Fein) against the South division team (managed by Ron Surkin of the ASBA Red).

Our fundraising can recycling campaign continues. Collect your aluminum cans and bring them to Bob Creedon at any Reds practice or game. The early returns have been good with limited player participation. The more players get involved the more we will all benefit.

When the Reds decided to move up to the 48+ division they had to leave some their younger players behind. We're glad to report that everyone has found a new team to play for in 2012. Larry Boreali is on the DL and will miss this season. Here is where they are now;

  • Rick Kelble & Matt Lehman: Philadelphia Zombies (NJIBL 35+ National)
  • Tom Longstreth: Delco Warriors (formerly Coach's Bar & Grill, NJIBL 35+ National)

  • Tom Wilmer: Philadelphia Blue Claws (NJIBL 45+ American)
  • Larry Boreali: Out for the season after successful shoulder surgery

TY COFFIELD'S SON AMONG TOP RANKED YOUTH BOWLERS

The youngest son of the Reds' Ty Coffield is bowling up a storm!

Name: Austin Coffield
Age: 8

Austin bowls at Doverama in Dover, DE in the Bantams Division...He leads the Bantams in High Game Scratch - Boys with a 163 game, High Series Scratch - Boys with a 409 series, High Series Handicap - Boys with a 676 series, Most Improved Average - Boys avg. up 16.93, Tied in High Game Handicap - Boys with a 252 game and 2nd in High Average - Boys with a 93.27 avg.

This was Austin's first year bowling in Tournaments (He's only been bowling for 1.5 yrs.) and he did an awesome job...He finished 2nd in the Singles Tournament, 5th in the Doubles and his team didn't do too well in the Teams Tournament...All said and done, Austin is in Delaware's State USBC Youth Top 15 Bowlers for his age group (5-8) ranked at 13th...His next and last Tournament for this season will be held May 6th in Middletown, DE and this is an Invitational Only Tournament for the Top 15 in the State (all Tournaments are for Scholarships)...Good luck Austin, have fun and bowl well!

The Reds' John Mendenhall's son Johnny, a senior at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County earned a spot on the America East Swimming and Diving All-Academic team.
