TRI STATE MSBL MISSION STATEMENT

The Tri-State 48+/55+ Senior Baseball League, LLC provides an opportunity for players of all skill levels 48 years and older to play competitive baseball. We emphasize good sportsmanship, physical fitness, teamwork and involvement in the community.

The league uses major league baseball rules with some specific rules adopted from the Men's Senior Baseball League (with some modified). The rules are published and reviewed and approved by the league managers on a yearly basis. We adhere to the advice published in Hardball Magazine (Fall Issue - 2008) that recommends "respect", "teamwork" and "control only that which you can control".

Managers, players and all persons associated with the teams are expected to adhere to the following guidelines:

    • Sign a waiver holding the league, MSBL, or any other officials non-liable in the event of injury or illness suffered participating or travelling to/from any sanctioned league event.

    • Provide the league with contact information including home address, telephone, and e-mail address. Provide the manager of your team your availability schedule.

    • Pay the MSBL, league, and team fees in a timely manner.

    • Provide your own glove, spikes and other specialized equipment. Note: Teams will supply fields, umpires, baseballs, bats, helmets and catcher's equipment paid for with the fees paid by the players and/or sponsors.

    • Treat all league and team equipment with care to minimize wear, tear and breakage.

    • Bring to the manager and/or league attention any situation that may hinder the team or league from adhering to the intent of this mission statement.

    • Familiarize yourself with proper etiquette for questioning umpire decisions and procedures for properly protesting a misinterpretation of playing rules by umpires.

    • Familiarize yourself with league rules and adhere to their intended purpose.

    • Refrain from loud and obnoxious criticisms aimed at teammates, opponents, umpires, and other game attendees. Refrain from any and all profanity.

    • Avoid any violent actions including base path collisions and "take out" slides.

    • Be courteous with and respectful to everyone before, during and after games.

  • Represent MSBL and the league with dignity.

These guidelines are not intended to reduce the competitiveness of games. They do recognize that actions like base path collisions to dislodge a ball from a defender or to "break up" a double play opportunity, or to prevent a runner from reaching the base or taking the shortest path to the next base is not appropriate in a league with non-paid, recreational players.
