2. Goals are set at 10 feet in height.
3. Girls will use an intermediate ball (28.5) and boys will use an intermediate ball (28.5).
4. Warm time will be set by when the last game ends and the next game starts.
5. Games will be played in four (4), six (6) minute quarters with a three (3) minute halftime break. Note: If games are running behind the league director or their staff has the right to reduce game times until back on schedule.
6. The clock only stops in the final minute of each quarter on dead ball whistles and starts on the referee.
7. Volunteers may be asked to run the clock and keep the scorebook.
8. Proper substitution throughout the game: check-in with the Time Keeper.
9. Only the Head Coach is allowed to stand in coach’s box during the game!
10. On shooting fouls:
Shot will be from the regulation free throw line. Non shooters line up like normal. There will not be an over the free line call unless player is going for a rebound on the attempt.
Teams will shoot two free throws for each foul committed after the opponent reaches five fouls in each quarter. Team fouls will reset to zero at the beginning of each quarter.
11. All types of defenses can be used (man to man, 1-2-2, 2-1-2, 1-3-1). Half court press is allowed from the opening tip. The offense has 10 seconds to get the ball across half court!
12. Once the defense rebounds the ball, offensive players must immediately hustle down and get back on defense. Offensive players that try to defend the rebounder in order for his or her teammates to get back on defense will be warned! On the 2nd warning from the referee a technical foul will be called. Note: Defensive Technical foul is 1 free throw and ball back. If a whistle occurs on this rule, referees may option to give the ball to the player and just dribble down the court instead of an inbounds play.
13. During fast breaks, defensive players cannot try to stop the break until after the ball crosses half court. (Unless rule # 14 applies)
14. Full-Court pressing is allowed ONLY in the last minute of each quarter, unless you have a 15-point lead (then no pressing)!!
15. If a team falls fifteen (15) points behind, then the other team’s defense must be behind the 3-point line! Defensive players that try to defend outside the 3-point or free throw area will be warned! On the 2nd warning from the referee a technical foul will be called. Note: Defensive Technical foul is 1 free throw and ball back.
16. Unless listed High School rules apply!
17. When in doubt give the other team the benefit of doubt and go on!
18. Each player must play in the game.
19. Players with five fouls will foul out of the game.
20. In efforts to improve sportsmanship, the Donald W. Reynolds Recreation Youth Basketball has adopted the following:
Any “egregious” unsportsmanlike behavior by Coaches, Players, or Fans will result in suspension for that game plus the next game. On a second offense in the same season / same sport will cause the SUSPENSION of the Team and/or Individual for the rest of the season.
Some of the following examples of “egregious” unsportsmanlike behavior:
- Fans constantly verbally attacking officials.
- Fans physically attacking officials.
- Fans attacking other fans at athletic events.
- Coaches physically attacking or verbally berating officials.
FIGHTING IS AN AUTOMATIC SUSPENSION FOR THE SEASON
