Official Rules of the KRSH

 (Revised 2009)

 

1. Time Periods& Overtime rules:

 Games will consist of  3 periods, 10 minutes running time each, the last 2 minutes is stop time.

 3 Minute Break between periods.

 Each team is allowed a 1 minute time out per period.

 Games will end in a tie in the regular season, 2pts for a win 1 for a tie.

 Overtime periods in the playoffs/Finals will be 10 minutes each last 2 mins stop, golden

 goal. (first goal in wins)

 If the game is still tied it goes to shootouts, (5 players) if still tied shoot outs will continue.

Ties at the end of the season are broken by head/head record, then total goals scored and last

by total goals against.

 

2. Divisions:

There are 3 Divisions U9, U12 & U15   (Ages 6-8  = U9) (Ages  9-11 = U12)(Ages 12-14  = U15)

 

3. Players:

U9 Div will play 5 on 5 plus the goalie, 1/2 rink .  U12 Div will play 6 on 6 plus the goalie.(full rink) U15 will play 5 on 5 plus the goalie.(full rink)

 

4. Line Changes:

Line changes for the U9 Div will be approx every 2 minutes, the referee will blow the

Whistle and stop play. Face off at center court. U12&U15 can change at any time .

COACHES WILL GIVE ALL PLAYERS EQUAL TIME OF PLAYING THE BEST

THEY CAN. THIS WILL BE MONITORED AND ADDRESSED TO MAKE SURE

COACHES ARE NOT  LEAVING THEIR BEST PLAYERS OUT ALL THE TIME.

(REMEMBER THIS IS A  RECREATIONAL LEAGUE NOT THE NHL)

 

5. Face Off:

Players must be squared off, sticks on the ground outside the dot. The ball must hit the

ground before touching it.

 

6. Out of play face off:

When the ball goes out of play it will be faced off in the teams zone who touched it last.

 

7. Equipment: (Street Hockey)

All players must wear their helmets with cages, mouth guard, shin guards, elbow pads,

gloves, protective cup, whenever they are on the rink.

 

8. Icing:

Icing will be from the blue line in the defensive zone. Icing is automatic, but may be

waived off if the ball can be played. (U9) will not play icing

 

9. Offsides:

The offsides will be the BLUE line for the U12, & U15 divisions. It is delayed offsides.

Shots on goal will cause the whistle to blow when the play is offsides. Offside face off is

the high Dots in the teams zone violating the offsides. U9 division will play a goal  

hanging rule, no one can be past the last defender when the pass is from the deep dots.

Goal hanging will be called offsides and the face off will be at the high dots of that players 

zone.

 

10. Catching the ball:

No one other than the goalie will catch the ball and hold it. A defensive face off will

occur In that players zone. The goalie must play the ball unless the opposing teams

player is within 15 feet approx.

 

11. Hand Pass:

There is no hand passes allowed in any zone.

 

12. Falling on the ball:

No player other than the goalie will intentionally fall on the ball. Outside the goal crease 

it will be a delay of game penalty, in the crease it is a penalty shot. From Center ice the 

player has 8 seconds, the goalie must have their feet on the goal line till the ball is 

touched. If the player loses control of the ball or it goes past the end line it is dead. If the 

ball hits the goalie, but continues to roll it is still good until the 8 seconds are up.

 

13. Goal hit in with a body part:

No goal will count if it purposely directed into the goal by the offending team by hand, 

arm, foot, leg or head. Face off will be outside the zone. 

 

14. Referee:

There will be 2 referees for the U12 & U15 Divisions. Abuse of the referees will not be

Tolerated, by players, or Coaches. Unsportsmanlike penalties will be given out, and the

league will review all incidents. U9 Div will have 1 referee. Except Playoffs and Finals

 

15. Terminating Players/Coaches:

The league reserves the right to terminate any player and or coach.

 

16. Penalties:

All minor penalties will be 1 minute each, majors are 4 minutes. No player will be 

allowed to continue to play after they have received more than 6 minutes in one game. 

Any player who does will be reviewed by the league, and put on notice. All coaches 

will be notified of any suspensions.

Slashing                   1 min / 4 mins if injury

Butt end/Spearing    4 mins

Fighting                  Automatic ejection/ Review by league for possible termination

Tripping                  1 min

Holding                   1 min

Holding the stick     1 min

Hooking                  1 min

Cross Checking       4 mins

Delay of game         1 min

Abusing the ref        1 min / Review by league

Unsportsmanlike      1 min / Review by league

 Misconduct              Ejection / Review by league
