Ian Lindsay was voted Playoff MVP for pitching 12 innings of 3 run ball, 14 Stikeouts and 2-0 playoff record.
Game two had Nick DePasquale silence the Mustang bats for eight innings. Nick gave up one run on four hits while striking out five.
The games big hit came in the top of the eighth inning as Richie Bethea smoked a two-run double to right-center field to drive in the winning runs.
Congratulations to the Kips Bay Mustangs on a terrific year and hard fought playoff series.
And to the Athletics much congratulations to the entire team on a superb summer of baseball. From start to finish it was an exciting year.

Athletics 18U advance into League Championship!
Congratulations to the Athletics 18U team on advancing into the league championship finals. The Athletics won their semi-final game in dramatic fashion by a score of 4-3 over the NY Phenoms.
The game started on Thursday but due to darkness continued on Friday with the score 3-3 . On Friday, the game started at the top of the eighth inning with Eric Helmrich on the mound for the Athletics. With the bases loaded with Phenoms and two outs, the batter hit a grounder to second that was eaten up by the grass, Pearse Hoffmann charged the ball, fielded it and threw to first base to just barely get the last out of the inning.
The Athletics half inning saw Justin Lewis get a leadoff hit, after one out Lewis stole second, then Tony Negrin was intentionally walked. Ian Lindsay advanced the runners with a ground out to second. With runners on second and third, Brian Nasti delivered the game winning hit just beyond the reach of the first baseman.

CNG All-City Selection

Congrats to Tony Negrin on being selected to the NYC All-City First Team. The selection was made by the NY Community News Group. Players included on the first team were from both private and public NYC schools.

Battle at the Border Tournament
June 30, 2008

In route to the finals the team had two very good wins, defeating the World Yacht Clippers American 3-0 behind the strong pitching of Stefan Botarelli (3 hit, 6 K shutout) and Greg Bratone's two-run homerun. The semi-final win was a 7-2 win over the NY 9 Showcase team. Ian Lindsay had an outstanding pitching performance giving up one run on five hits. Spencer Ryan had a double, two walks and scored three runs. Matt Hernandez went two for three with three RBI's.

Tony was selected to the All-Archdiocesan team and also selected as a Daily News All-City player for Catholic schools.
