The FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) about Avalon All Star

What skill level or caliber of play do you expect for regional teams?
Teams participating in the provincial league are of A status which will comprise the best players from clubs within the Avalon region.
Can a player who has been selected to an Avalon A All Star team play back with their own club?
Yes, any player registered with a club within the Avalon Region that has been selected can also play back for their mega team/metro league team.
What league do Avalon A teams play in?
Avalon A teams will play in the provincial league beginning in May. Based on the 2011 season, each team will play approximately 12 games. Currently, only the top 4 teams will qualify for the final weekend held in August to determine a champion.
Can players from Avalon clubs in Under 12 tryout for the U14 team?
Only players who are 2nd year U12 may tryout for the Avalon teams. Keep in mind that the focus is on selecting players in the U14 age group for the level of play that they experience. Only in exceptional cases will players in the U12 age range be selected.
Is there travel involved?
Yes, each team involved in provincial league will visit other regions once during the summer. The visits to Central and Western are usually tied into the same trip.
What happens next with the championship team in the final weekend?
That team will go on to represent the province at the club nationals held each October.
Is there a cost involved?
Yes, a player fee will be charged to each selected member to cover the cost of uniform and team fees.
