The Hot Shots Program
Hot Shots soccer is an entry level, clinic style program for boys and girls who have turned 4 by January 1st of this year. Season runs from September 5 to October 24, 2015.
Teams focus on ball handling skills and basic rules of soccer (kicking, passing, hands free, sidelines, overhead throws, positions). The first 3-4 weeks consist of skills and drills and progress to mini-games for the remainder of the season. All practices are at Hydes field for all teams on Saturday mornings.
All registrations received after July 31st will be placed on a first come, first served wait list based on teams and coaches available. There are no guarantees for placement after this date.
In 2014, we engaged UK Elite to support the development of our Hot Shots. We will have three trainers available to the program, and they will work professionally with the teams and the parent coaches. This was a smashing success, so we will continue engaging UK Elite in the upcoming 2015 season.
Hot Shots continue to rely on the great volunteer coaching staff that signs up to be on field with the players. We encourage you to sign up to coach and assist the program and are adding a brief skills and drills seminar to help coaches jump start the season with fun, easy to follow drills to run a practice and keep the kids going. We will provide you with a drill template to run a full practice and keep the kids moving for 60 minutes. Details on the clinic will we be communicated once rosters are set. The goal is help you help us grow the CMRC soccer program for years to come.
If you want to take your coaching further, a couple of coaching clinics will be available over the summer.
All players will receive a game jersey, socks, and a soccer ball, and at the end of the season, a commemoration medal (we have done away with trophies and applied the about 4 dollar cost saving - per trophy - towards professional training).
We have had many requests to accept players younger than 4 (Tykes) into the program. We are only able to do this to the extent that there are enough parent coaches to supervise and work with those teams, so this sub division of Hot Shots is not a given, and the UK Elite training does not extend to this group.
