SENATORS CAPTURE TITLE; WEBER NAMED MVP

Fittingly, the Sykesville Senators celebrated their first Federation League championship in the rain.

In their best-of-seven series with the Brookville Grays that went the distance and extended even longer thanks to four rainouts, the Senators beat the Grays, 6-2, Saturday at McKinley Field.

The trend continued thankfully for the Senators. The visiting team improved to 7-0 in the finals.

Sykesville’s bats were quiet for four innings thanks to Grays starter Brandon Bell, but the Senators rallied to score six runs in their final three at-bats to give Senators manager Paul Roman his first title in 36 years in the league.

Down 2-0, Sykesville got things going in the fifth thanks to some two-out lightning. With Jordan Weinzerl on after getting hit by a Bell pitch and two outs, Ryan Gordon drove a pitch to deep center field. With his back to the infield, Grays centerfielder Dan Buzzard nearly came up with a highlight-play inning-ending catch, but the ball glanced off his glove. Gordon wound up with a run-scoring triple and came on home Jason Roman’s single. After a Roman stolen base, Adam Fox singled in Roman to give Sykesville a 3-2 lead.

Kasey Clinton doubled and scored on a one-out single by Jess Cogan in the sixth ining and Tom Hibbert singled in two runs in the seventh inning to seal the deal for the Senators.

Roman, Fox and Cogan each had two hits for the Senators, who totaled nine off three pitchers despite having just two hits off the Grays’ Bell in the first four innings.

Senators pitcher Dan Wascovich came up big when they needed him. After giving up two runs in the first two innings, he held the Grays scoreless the rest of the way even though they had baserunners on every inning. He wound up scattering eight hits while striking out four and walking one.

For the Grays, Mike Sedor, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, led off the first with a double and scored on Danny Walters’ one-out double. In the second after two outs, Korry Lindemuth singled and Sedor doubled again, plating courtesy runner Matt Isaac.

Senators first baseman Jonathan Weber was named the finals MVP. He was 10-for-26 in the finals and drove in a whopping 12 runs with three doubles. Ironically in the series clincher, his 16-game hitting streak came to an end.

The Senator's bats didn't go away as they plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the Gray's lead to 8-4. Weber and Tom Hibbert led off with back to back singles. Jess Cogan doubled in Weber and Jude Lander singled in Hibbert.

The Gray's scored another run in the top of the seventh when Lindemuth singled in pinch runner Zac Roller.

Glenn Stewart picked up the win by tossing six complete innings. Stewart allowed four runs on ten hits and no walks. He also struck out 4. Fiscus tossed the seventh for the Grays.

Jason Knarr suffered the loss for the Senator's. Knarr allowed six runs in four innings of work. Mike Gray and Lander finished the game.

SENATORS EDGE GRAYS TO TAKE SERIES LEAD

With the game and perhaps the Federation League championship series on the line, veteran Jude Lander came through in a big way.

With the Sykesville Senators clinging to an 8-7 lead and the Brookville Grays mounting a rally in the bottom of the seventh, Lander struck out Rick Shaffer and got Danny Walters to fly out to centerfielder Ryan Gordon with runners on second and third to end the game, putting the Senators one win away from their first title.

Sykesville, up 3-2 in the best-of-seven finals, host the Grays Friday night at Reynoldsville starting at 6 p.m. A seventh game, if necessary, would be played Saturday in Brookville at 5:30 p.m.

Lander, who last appeared on the mound on July 11, was the third Senators pitcher as manager Paul Roman pieced together his staff, setting up Jason Knarr for the possible clincher at home against the Grays’ Glenn Stewart. Adam Fox started and went three innings. Jordan Weinzerl pitched into the seventh and got the win, thanks to Lander’s two-out save.

Sykesville’s five-run fourth inning was the difference. The Grays scored five runs off Fox in the first three innings and led 5-3 going into the top of the fourth before the Senators batted around.

Lander’s leadoff walk chased Grays starter Nate Simpson. The Senators had five hits off Grays reliever Joe Culler in the fourth. Jonathon Weber doubled in a run while Tom Hibbert and Jess Cogan hit back-to-back run-scoring singles. The inning was set up by Lander’s leadoff walk, Ryan Gordon reaching on Grays centerfielder Zac Roller’s dropped fly ball, Jason Roman’s single and Fox’s hit by pitch.

From there, Culler kept the Grays in the game, ending the fourth with a double play groundout and then facing the minimum over the final three innings.

The Grays took advantage of two walks, a hit batsman and a Fox error at shortstop to score a run in the sixth to cut it to 8-6. Then in the seventh, Kent Shick led off with a single. After Weinzerl struck out Culler, he walked Roller. Mike Sedor singled in pinch-runner Joe Galbraith to chase Weinzerl in favor of Lander.

Lander’s first pitch was in the dirt, allowing the potential tying and winning runs to move up to second and third. But Lander came up big, whiffing Shaffer and getting Walters to fly out to secure a big win.

Fox had three hits with a double and scored twice. Kasey Clinton doubled to help set up Sykesville’s two-run third inning.

Sedor went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored for the Grays. He singled and scored on Walters’ groundout in the first inning and doubled and scored in the Grays’ three-run third. Shaffer and Jed Fiscus also singled in runs in the third. Roller singled twice.

Weinzerl’s pitching line wasn’t all that great, but he picked up the win, allowing three hits while walking five and hitting two batters in 3 1/3 innings. He struck out three and gave up two runs, one of them unearned. Fox gave up five hits and five runs, four of them earned, in three innings.

Simpson got the no-decision for the Grays, allowing five hits and four runs, three of them earned, while walking three and striking out two in three innings. Culler hung the loss.

GRAYS EVEN SERIES

The Brookville Grays defeated the Sykesville Senators 5-3 to even the Federation Baseball League Best-of-7 Play-off Finals.

Brookville's Craig Hibell rebounded from a rough start in Game 1 to defeat the Senators. Hibell picked up the win by tossing 4 1/3 innings allowing three runs on six hits and three walks. He also struck out 1.

Ryan Barrett picked up the save by pitching the final 2 2/3 innings. Barrett entered the game with a one run lead in the bottom of the fifth inning and one out. Barrett faced Adam Fox with runners at first and second and got Fox to line out to left fielder Cole Cook who doubled up Ryan Gordon at second base on the play.

The Senators got on the board early in the bottom of the first inning when Ryan Gordon hit a lead off home run.

The Gray's answered in the top of the second inning as Jed Fiscus led off by getting hit by a Travis Menteer pitch. Zac Roller entered the game as a courtesy runner and stole second base to set up Kent Shick's RBI single to tie the score at 1-1.

The Gray's took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third inning as Joe Culler led off with a walk. Mike Sedor followed with a single to put runners at first and second. Rick Shaffer's sacrifice bunt set up Danny Walter's two-run single to score Culler and Sedor.

The Senator's answered in a big way in the bottom of the third inning as Jason Roman hit a two-run home run to tie the game at 3-3. Jude Lander scored on the home run as he singled to lead off the inning.

The Gray's took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning when Culler singled to open the frame. With one out Culler stole second base and eventually scored on a Walter's single.

The Gray's added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning when Sedor hit a solo home run to right center field.

Menteer suffered the loss despite pitching a complete game. Menteer allowed five earned runs on seven hits and three walks. He also struck out 4.

Game 5 will be held on Thursday at McKinley Field in Brookville. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Starting pitchers for both teams are to be announced.

SENATORS WIN GAME 3

The Sykesville Senators defeated the Brookville Grays 5-1 to take a 2-1 series lead in the Best-of-7 Championship Finals.

The Senators used the arm of starting pitcher Jason Knarr and clutch hitting from first baseman Jon Weber to secure the victory.

Knarr picked up the win by pitching 6 2/3 innings. He allowed one run on three hits and two walks. He also struck out 6. Adam Fox picked up the save by recording the final out with the bases loaded.

Weber was clutch for the Senators from start to finish as he doubled in two runs after the Gray's intentionally walked Kasey Clinton in the first inning to put the Senators up 2-0. Then in the seventh inning Weber drove in two more runs with a bloop single after another intentional walk to Clinton. Weber ended the evening with two hits including a double and 4 RBI's.

For the Senators, Jess Cogan had two hits. Clinton hit a solo home run to lead off the sixth inning.

Brandon Bell suffered the loss for the Gray's. Bell tossed a complete game allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits and three walks. He also struck out 3.

Danny Walters collected two hits to pace the Gray's offense.

Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday in Reynoldsville. First pitch is slated for 6pm. Brookville is scheduled to start Craig Hibell and the Senators will counter with Travis Menteer.

GRAYS EVEN SERIES

The Brookville Grays defeated the Sykesville Senators 5-3 in nine innings to even the Best-of-7 series.

The Grays started the scoring in the top of the first inning on Friday evening with a pair of runs off Sykesville's Dean Williams. With one out Danny Walters doubled and then scored on a Cole Cook single. After Kent Shick singled to put runners at first and second, Dan Buzzard delivered with a single to score Cook.

Sykesville answered in the bottom of the first with its own run to make the score 2-1. With two outs Adam Fox walked and later scored on a Kasey Clinton single.

On Sunday afternoon the game finally resumed after a wash out on Saturday. The Senators tied the game at 2-2 with a run in the bottom of the third inning. Ryan Gordon led off with a single and Jason Roman followed with a walk to put runners at first and second. With two outs Jonathon Weber delivered with a run scoring single.

The Gray's took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning thanks to a Sykesville error. Mike Sedor reached on an error to lead off the inning and was put into scoring position by a sacrifice bunt by Rick Shaffer. Danny Walters then delivered with a single to score Sedor.

The Senators didn't fold as they pushed a run across in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at 3-3. Jude Lander started the inning with a single and gave way to pinch runner Jared Baummer. Gordon laid down a sacrifice bunt and reached on an error to put runners at first and second. Jason Roman delivered with a run scoring single to tie the game.

The Gray's pushed the winning runs across in the top of the 9th inning as Cole Cook singled with one out. With two out Eric Painter stepped to the plate and hit a two-run home run to end the scoring at 5-3.

Ryan Barrett picked up the win in relief of Bell and Stewart. Barrett gave up no runs on three hits and two walks in his three innings of work. Stewart went five innings allowing two runs on five hits and two walks. Stewart also struck out 5.

Dan Waskovich suffered the loss for the Senators despite pitching eight complete innings. He allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits and two walks.

SENATORS MAKE STATEMENT IN GAME 1

Keeping their late-season surge going, the Sykesville Senators poured on the offense once again when they routed the Brookville Grays in the opening game of the Federation League Championship series Wednesday at McKinley Field.

The rare 12-Run Rule was enacted after five innings when the Senators were up 14-1. It was quite a display at the plate for the Senators, who host game two Thursday night in Reynoldsville at 6 p.m.

While the usual suspects were leading the way as Adam Fox and Kasey Clinton each reached base three times, it was Jonathon Weber and Tom Hibbert who did a good job cleaning up the base runners.

Weber, who increased his hitting streak to 11 games, doubled in two runs in the Senators’ three-run first inning and singled in two more in the eight-run fourth inning. Hibbert also drove in four runs, singling in a run in the first and blasting a three-run homer to right field in the fourth.

All but one Senators starter had a hit. Fox was 3-for-4 with a run-scoring double and two runs scored. Clinton singled twice and walked. He singled in two runs in Sykesville’s three-run second inning.

Jude Lander also had two hits, including a two-run double in the fourth.

That was more than enough for Sykesville starter Travis Menteer, who didn’t work very hard in his five innings. He gave up four hits, three of them never getting out of the infield. Jed Fiscus rolled a grounder just over the third-base bag for a double in the second inning.

The Grays’ lone run came in the first when Rick Shaffer reached on a bunt single and advanced to second on a throwing error on the play. Shaffer advanced to third on a groundout and hustled home when Cole Cook’s pop fly to shallow left-center was taken in by Fox. With Fox’s back to the plate, Shaffer took off and beat Fox’s throw.

Menteer struck out five and walked just one, picking up his second win in three playoff starts.

Craig Hibell started for the Grays and left two batters into the fourth inning. He gave up nine hits while striking out three and not walking a batter. Three of the eight runs charged to him were unearned. Joe Culler and Rob Jewett also saw mound time for the Grays.

According to both managers, Thursday’s probable pitchers are the Grays’ Brandon Bell (3-1, 1.14 ERA) and the Senators’ Dean Williams (2-2, 4.30 ERA).

FEDERATION LEAGUE FINALS PREVIEW

It’ll be the Sykesville Senators’ big bats against the Brookville Grays’ league-best pitching staff when the Federation League finals get started Wednesday night at Brookville’s McKinley Field starting at 6 p.m.

The best-of-seven series resumes Thursday at Reynoldsville once again at 6 p.m.. Games three and four are in Brookville and Reynoldsville Saturday and Sunday respectively with a weekend starting time of 5:30 p.m.

The Grays, back in the finals for the first time since winning back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009, boast a league-best earned run average of 1.43. That’s over two earned runs per game better than any other team in the league.

Brookville’s arms, however, will be tested by a Sykesville lineup that led the league in hitting at .343. The Senators are led by league MVP Kasey Clinton and Adam Fox. The Senators are in their first finals since getting swept by DuBois in 2000. They’ve never won a Federation League championship.

So it’ll likely come down to the arms of the Grays and the bats of the Senators, although both teams will have to do something in the other department to capture the title. Brookville beat Sykesville three out of four games during the regular season, although one game was a 5-4 win in 11 innings.

The Grays appear to have more pitching depth as the right-handed trio of Craig Hibell (4-1, 2.33 ERA), Brandon Bell (3-1, 1.14) and Glenn Stewart (2-2, 1.42) has combined to go 9-4 this year. While the three started the five games in the Grays’ semifinal series against Rossiter, relievers Ryan Barrett (12 games, 0.48 ERA in 14 2/3 innings) and Joe Culler were key figures. Culler picked up two wins in relief.

Nate Simpson (3-1, 1.54) and Rob Jewett (2-0, 1.34) could also be factors in a long series that usually is decided on which team has the most arms.

Sykesville, which advanced with a two-game sweep of NAPA Auto Parts in the preliminary round and a six-game series win over two-time defending champion DuBois, has been led by the slugging of Clinton and Fox. Clinton, who won the league’s triple crown, is hitting .506 this year with seven home runs and 39 runs batted in in 28 games. He’s slightly lower than that in the postseason at 12-for-24 with 11 RBIs in eight games.

A year ago, Fox was playing in his ninth and final season of professional ball with the Harrisburg Senators and Syracuse Nationals in the Washington Nationals farm system. Not surprisingly, the 30-year-old Fox has pounded Fed League pitching, especially in the playoffs. While he’s hitting .500 for the year with eight homers and 28 RBIs in 25 games, he’s 14-for-27 with six of those homers and 14 RBIs in the Senators’ eight playoff games.

Ryan Gordon (.357), Jason Roman (.357) and Jonathan Weber (.323) are all hitting over .300 and Weber owns a 10-game hitting streak going into the finals. Jesse Cogan is 12-for-26 in the postseason.

Travis Menteer (5-1, 2.53 ERA) is the Senators’ ace on the mound. He’s 1-0 in two playoff outings. Jason Knarr (5-1, 4.23) has won all three of his playoff starts.

After that, the Senators will need to come up with at least a third thrower to get through the series with the Grays. It could be Dan Wascovich (2-2, 4.50), who blanked the Rockets in the opening game of the series, but it was just his fourth appearance of the season and first in over a month.

Dean Williams (2-2, 4.3) also picked up a playoff win. Fox threw 4 1/3 innings in three relief outings in the playoffs with a save and a loss against the Rockets. For the year, he has a 2.80 ERA in 10 innings.

Danny Walters (.459), Rick Shaffer (.397), Zac Roller (.385), Kent Shick (.379), Mike Sedor (.333) and Cole Cook (.319) have had solid seasons at the plate for the Grays. Dan Buzzard (.288) and Jed Fiscus (.246) have been steady as well with the veteran Fiscus doing the catching duties and helping work with a young and talented pitching staff.

GRAYS PUNCH TICKET TO LEAGUE FINALS

One day after ending a 10-game losing streak at Rossiter’s Shaffer Field, the Brookville Grays avenged last year’s Federation League playoff semifinal loss to the Miners by finishing them off this year in five games with a 7-2 win at McKinley Field Sunday.

Brandon Bell took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Jacob Stumpf’s one-out bunt single ended the bid. By then, the Grays were up 6-0.

Rossiter scored two unearned runs off Bell in the sixth, but that was all it could muster off Bell, who avenged his own loss in a 5-2 loss at Rossiter and pitcher Sean Smith in game two. The Grays beat Smith too this time around, tagging him for 10 hits and all seven runs.

With Sykesville eliminating the two-time defending champion DuBois Rockets on Sunday as well, the Grays own homefield advantage in their best-of-seven finals against the Senators starting Wednesday at McKinley Field at 6 p.m.

The Grays are back in the finals for the first time since winning back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009. Sykesville, still looking for its first league title, last played in the finals in 2000 when it lost to DuBois.

Sunday in Brookville, Bell set the tone with his no-hit bid. He didn’t walk a batter and the only two hitters to reach base through the first 6 1/3 innings were Jacob Stumpf and Tyler Skerkavich, who reached on infield errors in the first and third innings. He wound up striking out four.

In the sixth after Stumpf’s bunt single, Kyle Neal hit into a forceout before Pete Meterko doubled. Neal scored on an outfield error on the Meterko’s hit. Meterko came around to score when he advanced to third on a wild pitch and went home on a throwing error.

The Grays put together two three-run rallies in the third and fifth innings and added an insurance run in the sixth. With two outs, Kent Shick singled home Rick Shaffer and Jed Fiscus doubled home Shick and Cole Cook, who also singled to keep things going with two outs.

In the fifth, Mike Sedor and Cook singled to start things. Shick’s groundout pushed home Sedor and Dan Buzzard’s two-out single drove home Cook.

Zac Roller tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.

Sedor and Cook each had two hits for the Grays.

Kevin Gnacinski suffered the loss for DuBois. Gnacinski went 3 2/3 innings allowing nine runs on seven hits and six walks. He also struck out 1. Dom Kriner finished the game for the Rockets.

The Rockets end the 2012 campaign as the Regular Season Champions and an overall record of 17-9.

GRAYS TOP MINERS IN EXTRAS

The Brookville Grays took a 3-1 series lead over the Rossiter Miners in their best-of-7 semifinals series with a 4-1 win in 9 innings.

The Grays' broke a 10 game losing streak at Shaffer Field that dates back to June 15, 2010.

The Grays' scored first in the top of the third inning with an unearned run. Nate Simpson led off the frame with a single and eventually scored on a two-out error.

The Grays' held onto a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning as Glenn Stewart was looking for his second complete game during the semi-finals. The Miners' had other plans as Christian Muth led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second base by a Luke Janocha bunt. Manager Jim Dunlap elected to pinch hit Jordan Mesoraco for Taylor Neal with Muth standing on second base. Mesoraco didn't waste any time as he drilled a Stewart offering down the right field line for a run scoring double that tied the game at 1-1.

With the winning run at second base and one out the Grays' looked to Joe Culler to get out of the inning. Culler retired the next two hitters to send the game into extra innings.

The Miners' threatened in the bottom of the eighth inning when Pete Meterko led off with a single and moved to second base on a wild pitch by Culler. After Rick Bishop grounded out Dakota Bish stepped up to the plate. Bish delivered with a single that appeared to be the game winner, but Joe Galbraith made a diving stop up the middle. Gray's shortstop Danny Walters picked up the ball and delivered a strike to catcher Jed Fiscus who applied the tag on Meterko.

Brookville used the momentum in the top of the 9th inning to score three runs and secure the win. Culler led off with a single and Dan Buzzard walked, which led to Rossiter lifting starting pitcher Muth for Sean Smith. Smith faced Simpson first and got him to bunt his sacrifice attempt right in front of the plate for an easy out at third. Smith then struck out Galbraith for the second out to set the stage for leadoff hitter Rick Shaffer. Shaffer delivered with a double down the right field line that scored Buzzard. On the same play an errant throw to the catcher allowed Simpson to score. Walters then delivered with a run scoring single to finish the scoring at 4-1.

Ryan Barrett then picked up the save by throwing a scoreless ninth. Culler picked up the win in relief of Stewart. Culler pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing no runs on two hits and a strikeout. Stewart went 6 1/3 innings allowing one run on four hits and three walks.

Muth suffered the loss for the Miners' despite pitching into the ninth inning. Muth went 8 plus innings allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits and four walks.

The series returns to McKinley Field in Brookville on Sunday at 5:30pm.

ROCKETS TOP SENATORS

The DuBois Rockets defeated the Sykesville Senators 5-2. The Senators now have a 3-2 series lead over the Rockets in the best-of-7 semifinals.

Ben McGary kept the Rockets' alive with a complete game performance. McGary allowed two runs on five hits and one walk. He also struck out 4.

Leading the way offensively was Tom Yeager who had two hits. Sean Sleigh tripled and Kevin Gnacinski doubled. Yeager and Sleigh also drove in runs.

Sykesville's Ryan Walker suffered the loss. Walker pitched six innings allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks. He also struck out 2.

Adam Fox recorded the only extra-base hit for the Senators with a double. Kasey Clinton and Jon Weber both drove in runs.

The series resumes Sunday with Game 6 in Reynoldsville. First pitch is set for 5:30pm.

SENATORS BEAT ROCKETS

The Sykesville Senators defeated the DuBois Rockets 7-4 to move within one win of advancing to the 2012 Federation Baseball League Finals.

The Senators scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning to put the game away. The inning was highlighted by an Adam Fox solo home run.

The Senator's offense was led by Jude Lander and Jordan Weinzeral who both had a pair of hits and also drove in a run. Jon Weber chipped in with a pair of RBI's.

Dean Williams picked up the win by tossing 6 2/3 innings. Williams allowed four runs on six hits and five walks. He also struck out 2. Weinzeral notched the save by recording the final out.

DuBois was led by Ben McGary and Sean Zimmerman who both had two hits. Zimmerman also drove in a run. Brian Shaffer added a home run and Chris Szafran doubled.

Dom Kriner suffered the loss. Kriner pitched all six innings allowing seven runs on nine hits and seven walks. He also struck out 5.

The series returns to Shower's Field in DuBois on Saturday for Game 5. First pitch is set for 5:30pm.

GRAYS USE LONGBALL TO DEFEAT MINERS

Thanks to a power surge from Joe Galbraith, the Brookville Grays hit three home runs and grabbed a 2-1 series lead in their best-of-7 semifinal series against the Rossiter Miners with an 11-4 win at McKinley Field Wednesday night.

Galbraith’s grand slam homer capped the Grays’ six-run first inning. He led off the Gray’s five-run fourth inning with another homer, his first two longballs in his Grays career.

Jed Fiscus also homered for the Grays, knocking a two-out three-run homer later in the fourth inning. The Grays had homered just twice all season with both coming on the road.

The Grays’ five-run fourth came just after reliever Joe Culler got two key outs in the top of the inning. Culler replaced starter Craig Hibell with one out and the bases loaded and he struck out Christian Muth and Chad Davis to end the inning.

Because Hibell didn’t finish four innings, Culler got a rare two-out win. Rob Jewett finished the game by allowing three hits and two runs in the final three innings to pick up the save.

The series resumes Thursday night at Shaffer Field in Rossiter where the Grays haven’t won in 10 tries, a losing streak dating back to their last win, a 6-3 victory way back on June 15, 2010.

The Grays got 10 hits off Miners pitchers Dylan Kachmar and Luke Janocha. Kent Shick nearly hit a homer earlier in the first inning when his ball hit the yellow piping on the top of the left field fence. He wound up with a double, driving in Rick Shaffer and Cole Cook who walked and was hit by a pitch respectively. After two outs, Kachmar walked Nate Simpson and Culler to set up Galbraith’s slam.

Shick singled in a run with two outs in the fourth right before Fiscus’ three-run blast finished up the Grays’ scoring.

Also for the Grays, Danny Walters singled three times.

Pete Meterko doubled in a run and scored on Tyler Skerkavich’s single to give the Miners a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. But Hibell retired eight of the next nine batters before working himself out of the game with three one-out walks in the fourth.

Chad Davis singled in a run in the sixth and Kyle Neal scored on a Skerkavich’s groundout in the seventh for Rossiter’s other runs.

Jacob Stumpf and Neal each had two hits for the Miners.

Kachmar took the loss on the mound. Janocha relieved him with two on base and no outs in the second inning and finished the game.
