Frequently Asked Questions – In house Soccer

 

Where does YYSA play games and how many games?

YYSA plays 8 games per season. In house teams – U6, U8, and U10 In House will play home games in Lowber on Saturday mornings. The address is 22 Cherry Street. U10 In house teams will play some away games at Elizabeth Forward, Norwin, and Greensburg so players get introduced to playing other Clubs and preparing them for when they are ready to play on a Travel team.

U11 - U15 INHOUSE will play on Saturday, typically late morning or early afternoon.  Home games at Yough HS, away games against Norwin at Turner Valley.

   

What time will games be played?

Game times are usually between 9 AM and 12 PM.  Schedules are usually not completed until about a week before the season starts.  Once completed they will be posted on the website www.youghsoccer.com and on the Yough Soccer Facebook page.  An email will be sent out to all when the schedule(s) is available.


When does the season start?
Spring usually starts early April and Fall usually starts early September.

First Game for In House is Saturday April 6th

 

Final Game for In House is Saturday June 1st

Practices will begin 1-2 weeks before the first game.

 

How does my child get on a team?


1.  Complete the registration at www.youghsoccer.com

2.  Each player will be assigned to a team by the In House Coordinator based on age.

 

When will I hear from our coach?


Your child's coach should contact you shortly after the teams are assigned, typically a few weeks before the season starts. 

When and where will the practices be held?

Your child's coach will set practice days and times. Practices are held at Lowber Soccer Field Monday through Friday starting around 6pm. It is recommended coaches hold practice twice a week for at least one hour per practice but may vary depending on the coach’s schedule.

 

Who provides the uniform and the other soccer equipment?

Game shirts are purchased during the registration process. In House Teams wear a reversible Green and White shirt. Parents are required to purchase their child's soccer socks, soccer shorts, shin guards, shoes, and appropriate size soccer ball. Size #3 Ball for U6, Size #4 Ball for U8/U10, Size #5 Ball for U13 and up.

Frequently Asked Questions – Travel Soccer

When does the season start?

 

First Game for Travel is Sunday April 7th 

 

Final Game for Travel is Sunday June 2nd but is subject to change.


Practices will begin 1-2 weeks before the first game.

What is needed for Travel registration ?

Travel Players are required to provide a copy of their Birth Certificates and a recent photo (head shot).  The Birth Certificate is to assure the player is in the right age group.   The photo is used for their Player Card, which is required by the referee prior to every game.

 

Where does Yough Travel Soccer play games?


U10 play home games in Lowber on Sundays.  The address is 22 Cherry Street. 

U12 and up play at the Yough High School, either on the grass field behind the softball field or on the stadium turf.

Away games are also on Sundays and locations vary.  Away games are usually within a 1 hour drive time.

Typically each team will play 4 home and 4 away games.  Game start times are typically between 12 PM and 6 PM.

 

What about uniforms?

 

Travel shirts are available for purchase during Registration if your child does not have the most recent shirt or has outgrown their existing shirt. Players wear an orange Yough Soccer shirt with their name/number on the back. Parents are required to purchase their child's soccer socks, soccer shorts, shin guards, shoes, and appropriate size soccer ball. Size #4 Ball for U10/U12, and Size #5 for U14

 

Note: Travel players are required to wear black socks and shorts.

Teams are assigned based on the age group chart above.  Yough typically does not have tryouts and there is an attempt to match each player with a team.  However, there are set roster maximums and tryouts may need to be held if the numbers in an age group warrant a tryout.  If there is not enough players for a team in your age group, you will be refunded.

Coaches will set practice days and locations.  Typically U10 practices in Lowber.  U12, U14 and older practice on the grass field at Yough High School.

Usually at least 2 practices per week 1 ½ to 2 hours per practice.
