2014 BROOKLIN/WHITBY FALL CLASSIC CHAMPIONS

MONTREAL METS

Montreal wins 2014 Brooklin/Whitby Fall Classic Tournament

Well another Brooklin/Whitby Fall Classic has come and gone. This year with only 11 teams taking part, was one of the most successful Fall Classics in the past few years. Despite weather issues on Saturday, all Round Robin games were played with the exception of one game that was forfeited by the Toronto Iron Pigs due to the delay caused by the weather and their own work commitments. You can't really fault police officers for wanting to get to work and keep our neighbourhoods safe.

In the end it was the Montreal Mets who were at the top of the heap after defeating a strong Peterborough Rawhide team in the Championship Final. The final saw two undefeated teams go head to head, as Peterborough came in to the last game with a 3-0 record after going 2-0 in Div "C" (receiving a direct bye in Semi's in the smaller division) and then defeating the Erindale Lawnamaniacs in their Semi-Final game. Montreal won Div "A" with a 2-0-1 record and would then defeat the Angus Black Sox in their Semi-Final game. Montreal played a very strong tournament from start to finish with only one really bad mistake made the whole weekend. They had the misfortune of actually stepping in to The Royal in downtown Whitby, one of if not the worst gentlemen's clubs in existence.

Overall a successful and fun weekend, while a little cold and wet it was a tremendous weekend for everyone involved. We look forward to next year and as always will hope for better weather. We'd like to thank all of those who took part on the team side as well as all of our umpires and site convenors that helped make things wrong as smoothly as they did considering the hoops we had to jump through due to the weather,

See you all next year!

Play-off day is here!

Well after a very difficult morning on Round Robin Saturday we actually did make it to Play-off Sunday with no major issues and on time!

Today will see the four teams that remain, after a wet and blustery Saturday full of some great baseball, play for the 2014 Brooklin/Whitby Fall Classic Tournament title.

Our Division "A" was the Montreal Mets with a 2-0-1 record open the Semi's against the Angus Black Sox who secured the wildcard spot with a 2-1 record and a +9. This game will start 9:00am this morning.

Then at approximately 11:30am we will see our Division "B" winner Erindale Lawnamaniacs, with a record of 3-0, take on the Division "C" winner Peterborough Rawhide with a record of 2-0 (received a bye into Semi's).

The winners of these two semi's will then face off at around 2:30pm to play the tournament Championship.

Looks like a great day for some fun and exciting play-off baseball!

TOURNAMENT WEEKEND IS HERE!!!!

Well it has finally arrived, the 2014 Brooklin/Whitby Fall Classic Tournament is all set to have it's first pitch at 8:00am this morning as long as Mother Nature co-operates. While that has been some rain since yesterday afternoon it does not seem to have been as bad as was forecast. So our fingers are crossed that at 8:00am the Dodgers vs. Iron Pigs game and the Banana Slugs vs. Blue Sox game will start on time. An hour later in Port Hope the Bandits vs. Rawhide game will get going.

Just a reminder players, coaches and fans dress warm today it will be a bit chilly out there especially with the wind.

Stay tuned for scores to be posted here on the website!

Tournament is set to go with 11 teams

Well here we are just a few short days away from the first pitch of the 2014 Brooklin/Whitby Fall Classic Tournament. This year however the Whitby team will be missing the tournament due to their continued participation in the OSBA Championship Series, which will be taking place also this coming weekend. As well tournament organisers were unable to find a 12th team to take the Chiefs place.

So the tournament will go ahead with 11 teams. Two divisions of 4 teams and one division of 3 teams. The parks to be used will be Ritson Fields in Oshawa, Clarington Fields in Bowmanville and Port Hope Towne Park.

The schedule has been completed and posted here on the website, so that fans of each team will be able to follow how are their teams does in the tournament, as scores will be posted shortly after the end of each game.

Only two weeks till the first pitch!

The 2014 Brooklin/Whitby Fall Classic tournament is just 2 weeks away and there are now 11 teams confirmed and booked for the tournament. There are 5 other teams who we are still waiting to hear from as they work on making sure they have full rosters. As well we wait to see how the Whitby Chiefs do in the OSBA Play-offs.

The teams we do have entered in the tournament stretch a wide variety of teams and stretch right across the province and even dip into our neighbours to the east in Quebec. The teams are listed below and when possible have included the league they play in as well as their league website.
