· Teams will be voted on the Monday before the last day of school and letters will be sent out the Monday after the last day of school.
· Managers of All-star teams will be selected by a majority vote of the SPGSA board.
· Prior to the selection of the Tournament Team players, all interested candidates for the Team Manager position shall notify the Division VP of their interest in the position. The Division VP will present to the board a list of all Team Manager Candidates, along with their recommendations for Team Manager.
· The candidates for Team Manager may be coaches from within the division, parents of players in the division, or other third parties without children in the division who have a legitimate reason for interest in the position.
· Team Managers, coaches and assistants shall comply with all laws, regulations and rules associated with working with children and requirements set by the Board. Prospective managers and coaches understand they may not assume the role until they submit clearances and any other required certifications or documents as required by law, regulation, rule or the Board. Due to the time constraint of tournament teams, the Board may require proof and documentation prior to consideration for team manager, coach or assistant.
· Players will be selected to a Tournament Team by the division managers as described here. All players in the division are eligible for voting and selection, regardless of age.
· Selection of the first twelve (12) players to the Tournament Team will be done via a secret ballot vote of all team managers from that division. The voting process will be administered by two (2) SPGSA board member that do not have children playing in that division. All managers in the division will be required to submit a ballot listing the twelve (12) players they feel are deserving of being selected to the Tournament Team. The twelve highest vote getters are automatically placed on the Tournament Team. Ties will be broken by a re-vote of only the tied players, with managers voting just for the minimum number of candidates needed to fill the team. EXAMPLE: If 3 girls are tied for the last 2 spots on the team, then the re-vote will involve each manager voting for 2 of the 3 tied candidates.
· To be eligible for a Tournament Team a player must have participated in 70% or more of her team’s full season of games played (arrive at least before the start of the second inning and participate at least through the second-to-last inning the team plays that game), AS WELL AS participated in and remitted all funds that are a part of official SPGSA player fundraiser season activities.
· Tournament Team players are responsible for their Tournament Team costs which are separate from their season fee.
· All Tournament Teams will be supported by SPGSA through use of our name, insurance, facilities, and normal playing equipment. Tournament Teams will be required to purchase their own uniforms, if so desired, unless a majority vote of the SPGSA board agrees to financial support for that Tournament Team’s uniforms.
· Tournament Teams are responsible for their entry fees into tournaments. The SPGSA may pay for one tournament entry fee per team at the joint discretion of the President, Vice-President, and Treasurer. If an entry fee is awarded by SPGSA to a Tournament Team, there will be a limit placed on the dollar amount of the entry fee as determined by the President, Vice-President, and Treasurer.
· If the SPGSA conducts a tournament for the age and division of a Tournament Team, the Tournament Team must play in the SPGSA tournament. The Tournament Team will not be charged an entry fee for this tournament, but will be required to provide volunteer assistance to the operation of the tournament. All tournament team players’ families are expected to contribute to this
volunteer effort as a condition to participating in the Tournament Team season.
· While the SPGSA tournament and activities such as concession stand sales and skills contests is meant as a SPGSA fundraiser, The Tournament Team may include their own fundraising activities during the SPGSA tournament such as basket raffles and 50/50 raffles. They may use those fundraisers to offset the Tournament Team’s operating costs.
