1.What makes UBYSG the place for my daughter or son?

Answer -Formally Unfinished Business Basketball, UBYSG is a time tested organization that is committed to developing willing youth and willing families in our community reach college, through sports. Our organization is strong because of the committed volunteer Coaches, Team Administrators, external partners and most importantly our student athletes and their families. Our organization, like people in day to day life situations has learned by making some mistakes, in our past. All of this makes us who we are today. UBB transitioned into UBYSG in 2014, to serve a broader scope of youth in our community. UBYSG is interested in being a community based organization that helps student athletes who are competitive in their field of play and also great students in the classroom. UBYSG is not an organization that will not "high-spot" for the best talent alone but will work to fill the needs of our teams. UBYSG is committed to working with student athletes have C.A.T. (high CHARACTER, great ATTITUDE, and TALENT). We want to help develop complete student athletes into College ready student athletes, when their time comes.

2. What are your fees?

Answer - Our fees have been, historically, the best value in our county. When UBB began back in 2010-2011, our fee was $250 per family, for a ten tournament schedule. Today, our fees are about the as they were then, but with less tournaments, for most teams.

3. What type of grades are required to participate w/UBYSG?

Answer - We've amended the grade point average expectation to 3.0 for the 2015 season. We believe that a sustained effort to maintain a 3.0, will make our competitive student athlete college worthy, when their time comes. Those student athletes that are below a 3.0 will be given the option to be put on an academic improvement plan with Coach Carter, to raise the GPA to meet our minimum standards.

4. How can UBYSG help my daughter or son get to College?

Answer - Our organization has forged relationships with local, regional and national exposure outlets. For years, our youth were not exposed to the same opportunities that kids, from neighboring counties, were given. UBYSG is committed to changing that trend. We partner with the High School Coaches, as we get student athletes placed in these exposure events and attempt to market, those ready, to the respective entities. As we confirm they are on the radar, we then turn to process over to the High School coaches to complete the process.

5. Can UBYSG coaches help my daughter or son develop?

Answer - Yes, we can. Of the four coaches that completed the 2014 season, all four have had the same team for at least two seasons. Two are either current or past High School Varsity Coaches, of which both have a proven record of success. One currently coaches at the Middle School level. All of our coaches, this past season either won or played in Championship games. Our Director, Coach Carter, began his volunteer coaching career in 1987, winning two successive middle school boys championships in the Montgomery County Recreation Department, while living in Wheaton, MD. Coach Carter went on to win another Championship in the Montgomery County men's league as a player/coach, with the likes of Earl Jones, former UDC All American and past LA Laker, and former All-Met school mate and JMU standout Bill Hughes. In addition to winning a few tournaments while Director/Coach of Unfinished Business Basketball, Coach Carter most recent team success came in 2013, while coaching his Middle School Girls Varsity team to win their division, in the Mid-Maryland Girls League. All of our coaches have also obtained certification through the Positive Coaching Alliance.
