Our story
Murrieta Mavericks Cheer
Established in 2009
The Murrieta Mavericks began in 2007 with a small group of elementary school girls practicing in local parks, led by a coach from a military family. When the coach relocated out of state, six determined girls chose to continue their cheer journey together. In 2009, the Murrieta Mavericks officially became a team and moved into a gym—setting the foundation for years of growth, competition, and championship success.
At the core of the program was a dedicated mom and her two daughters, both original members of the team. As the years passed, the girls not only competed but became coaches, helping shape the future of the Mavericks. Today, both daughters are full-time nurses, having carried the values of commitment and leadership from the mat into their careers.
Meanwhile, their youngest sister continues to live out her cheer dream—coaching and leading the Mavericks with the same passion that started it all. With their mom still actively involved in the program, this family has become the heart of the Mavericks legacy.
More than a cheer team, Murrieta Mavericks is a family. Built on teamwork, leadership, dedication, and heart, the program continues to inspire new generations—one cheerleader at a time.

Coach Alana Almond
My name is Alana Almond and I’m so excited to be joining the coaching staff at Murrieta Mavericks Cheer—where my own cheer journey began!
I started cheering as a Murrieta Maverick before moving into all-star cheer, where I was proud to win The Summit twice. I cheered all four years in high school and capped off my cheer career as a collegiate athlete at San Diego State University, where I competed at College Nationals.
I work locally as a Physician Assistant at a family medicine clinic.
I can't wait to meet all of our amazing athletes and be part of your growth, goals, and cheer memories. Let’s make this season one to remember!
