History
Subscribe to our NewsletterWichita Falls High School has a rich history and tradition of high school baseball. Coyote baseball was organized in 1911 and opened the inaugural season in 1912. It became a very popular sport even throughout the early 1900's. Because a major league baseball team played in Wichita Falls, baseball was a prominent sport for Old High. However, in 1927, baseball was not played as a result of insufficient funds available to the team. Baseball was not reorganized until 1947. The long awaited baseball team won every district game that year. Since the formation in 1911, WFHS has produced 27 playoff appearances, 18 District Championships, six Bi-District Championships, and three appearances in the State Championship.
