GROUPS AND DESCRIPTIONS


Developmental – Introduction to Competitive Swimming

Practice Requirements - Must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle
Group Focus and Standards - Swimmers are beginner swimmers.  These swimmers are working on technique with a little endurance.  These swimmers are focused strictly on floating, body position and freestyle.  This is also where the swimmer goes through the introduction of competitive swimming.

 


Age Group - Bronze

Practice Requirements - Beginners / Intermediate (This may include AMS swimmers, but developmental. Approximately 60 mins. of practice time)
Attendance - Suggested 2-3 days a week. (60 mins.)
Group Focus and Standards – Beginner Swimmers that have a developmental skill set and are ready to try out competitive swimming.  These swimmers are learning all four strokes and building endurance.  These swimmers are also developing mentally, with their focus on practice and how well they listen to the coaches.  They are also learning about clock management and other aspects of competitive swimming.

 


Age Group AMS - Silver

Practice Requirements - Intermediate + primarily along with swimmers wanting to compete.
Attendance - Suggested 3 - 4 days a week. (90 - 120 mins.)
Group Focus and Standards - These swimmers are able to consistently complete swim sets with given time parameters with clock management. The focus of this group is to continue stroke development, strengthen the swimmer's technique and endurance, while introducing race strategy and speed to all four strokes for competition.


JV AMS Group - Gold

Practice Requirements – Intermediate +, Middle School / Advanced
Attendance - Suggested 4 - 5 days a week. (90 - 120 mins.)
Group Focus and Standards - Gold two swimmers have an above average skill set.  These swimmers are able to consistently complete swim sets at specific time intervals while understanding clock management.  The focus of this group is to increase endurance and speed to all four strokes, while polishing technique for all four strokes and working on race strategies.

Varsity AMS Group - Senior

Requirements - Advanced / High School
Attendance - Suggested 4 - 5 days a week. (90 - 120 mins.)
Group Focus and Standards - Swimmers have a proficient skill set, compared to the skill set necessary for high school varsity swimming.  These swimmers are able to consistently complete higher-level swim sets on tighter time intervals while utilizing clock management.  The focus of this group is to increase endurance and speed to all four strokes, while perfecting technique to all four stokes for competition.  This group also has a focus on Dry-land strength and conditioning training.
