Frequently Asked Questions
1. What equipment does my son/daughter require to play?
Answer: Your son or daughter, requires an athletic supporter and a glove. They should bring their own water bottle with their name on it to games and practices. It is recommended that they have their own helmet with their name on it as well. However, NLMB does supply limited number of helmets / team.
2. Will they be playing in a league and travelling?
Answer: Your son or daughter will be playing in a league that the SSMBA has facilitated in putting together for players to play house league. The team they will be playing for (providing NLMB has a team for that division) is based out of New Lowell.
3. How far do the teams travel?
Answer: This depends on the division and who has entered a team in league play. Generally speaking half the games are played in our own diamond.
4. When does the season begin?
Answer: Based on previous years from Peewee to Midget the regular season begins with a 14 game schedule and starts the week before Victoria Day. The divisions from T-Ball to Tyke start right after Victoria Day. This is pending on field availability and how wet the field is. Most teams start practice first or second week of May.
5. When does the season end?
Answer: T-Ball ends towards the end of July with their final tournament. All other divisions end in August at various times with their Playoff Tournament.
6. How many times a week do the teams play?
Answer: The teams generally have one game and one practice / week. Sometimes it can be two games or practices / week and on occasion you can be on the field three times / week.
7. Are the teams co-ed?
Answer: Both boys and girls are welcome to play on the NLMB Teams as this is the same in most centers.
