Welcome Message

Welcome to the New Lowell Minor Baseball (NLMB) website. NLMB is a volunteer, non-profit and community ran organization within the township of Clearview. The Association is beginning to prepare and plan for the 2020 season. We register our teams into the South Simcoe Minor Baseball Association so that the teams are able to play in a league. NLMB goals is to ensure all players, both boys and girls have fun, develop their skills, treat everyone with respect, learn and follow the rules. These are just a few of the goals that the Association strives to ascertain for all participants. We are hoping to submit a team at every level.

COVID-19 Update for the 2020 Season (New)

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt our normal way of life, creating unprecedented times, the situation remains in a very fluid state.  NLMBA is providing this update to our membership.

On 24 May 2020, Baseball Ontario has updated their media release stating that the suspension of all in-person baseball programs and activities would be extended to and including 15 June 2020. This means that during this period there is no insurance coverage for the programs and activities.

On 21 May 2020, Clearview Township stated on their website they are taking direction from the Ontario Government, County of Simcoe and the Simcoe and Muskoka District Health Unit.

NLMBA will not proceed until Baseball Ontario reinstates insurance coverage, parks and facilities are open to the public for use both by the different levels of government and Public Health. We do not know when the timeline that this will occur but are hopeful to have play underway by 1 July 2020. There are additional phone conferences scheduled over the next two to three weeks in hope to provide clarity for baseball this summer.

Baseball Ontario's Safe Sport Committee is preparing return to train/return to play guidelines once the suspension of in-person activities has been lifted.

NLMBA is taking measures by ensuring that each team has a certified coach and having the umpires obtain their qualification by participating with on-line courses in preparation for a 2020 season.

The NLMBA continues to monitor the situation and is consistently involved with meetings in order to ensure that we receive the most up to date information. We appreciate your patience and understanding and continue to wish everyone good health and to stay safe.

President
