On behalf of Olney Boys and Girls Community Sports Association (OBGC) and our Olney Cougar Fastpitch teams, I am pleased welcome you and your team to the Fifth Annual Field of Screams Tournament in Olney, Maryland. I'd like to provide you some important information about our community and our tournament. Please read the details below.

Tournament Structure and Schedule

This tournament is a USSSA sanctioned open tournament consisting of 59 teams in 5 age brackets. The tournament schedule and rules are posted on the USSSA Maryland site – www.usssa1.com. 

Pool play begins on Saturday at 8:30 (10:00 at Olney Manor). Scores for pool games will be recorded on the Olney Fastpitch website at www.olneyfastpitch.org so teams can keep up with the progress of the entire tournament. Championship play begins on Sunday at 8:30 (9:30 at Olney Manor). Team and individual trophies will be awarded to each age group’s champion and finalist.  

The 10U age group has been separated into 2 independent divisions – Zombies and Goblins. Team and individual trophies will also be awarded to 10U Zombie and 10U Goblin champions and finalists. 

Finally, individual medals will be awarded to the 14U Silver bracket champion and finalist.

The following are the addresses for each of the Field of Screams Fields.

Practice Areas

OBGC Park and Rosa Parks

Team practice areas are located at OBGC Park behind Fields #2 and #3, on Rosa Parks upper field which is behind Field #2's left field fence, and at Rosa Parks Field #1. Please do not warmup on OBGC Park ’s Field #1.  Baseball games are scheduled and the repetitive warmups tear up the outfield grass.  Also do not warmup on any of the soccer or football fields. All other park rules can be found at the OBGC website at www.obgc.com

Layhill Park

Team practice areas are available on Field #4 and includes an open dirt infield.

Olney Manor

Team practice areas are limited.  There is space between and behind the fields.  Field #2 is available for warmups from 9:00 - 5:00 on Saturday.  In addition, park rules prohibit us from opening the fields until 9:00 so pregame warm-ups on the fields are extremely limited. 

Apparel and Tournament T Shirts

Moyer’s Sports will have apparel for sale at OBGC Park, Olney Manor and Fairland on Saturday and Sunday.

Our tournament T-shirt is a 7 color design and can be viewed on our website homepage at www.olneyfastpitch.org.   We will have over 350 shirts available. Colors are  blue, pink, purple, safety yellow and safety orange.  Available sizes are small, medium, large and extra large.  These T-shirts will be on sale at the tournament for $20 each. We also have a limited number of long sleeve t-shirts in safety yellow and safety orange.  These long sleeve t-shirts are $25 each. A special thanks to ASAP Printing in Glen Burnie MD for their exceptional work.

Food Concessions

We will have our full service concession stand available at OBGC Park. This concession stand will also serve Rosa Parks. Full service concessions are also available at Fairland. Unfortunately, we won’t have food concessions at Layhill and Olney Manor on Saturday. We invite you to visit some of our fine local restaurants during your time between games.  

Field of Screams Maryland

For those of you who are new to our tournament, it coincides with OBGC's Field of Screams Maryland fundraising event. This month long event that has captured national attention and the terror has been ramped up again this year.  Many teams have made this a team event so groups of 10 or more should email to learn more about group discounts.  Groups must make an advanced reservation in order to obtain the discount. Attractions include:

Trail of Terror - a 35 min walk through a haunted forest best known for being the place where a farmer from Dream City lost his life and was skinned alive by the most powerful werewolf in the world who is competing to rule over all of Scream City.

Lusion Manor - The home of the powerful Lusion Family where Angelica Lusion originally dreamt up and designed Dream City and where Antoine Damian her husband ultimately schemed with his twin daughters to destroy it and turn it into the evil Scream City. This terrifying tour is unlike anything you have seen as you visit every room in their manor house including the attic where some are known to have never returned from.

Hades' Haunted Hayride - A haunted hayride like few have every experienced!!! The cornfield of this old farm is haunted by several of the evil clans that were conjured up by the Lusions and who rule parts of Scream City. There is a rumor that something so frightening that few can even look at it escaped the underworld and dwells within in the corn.

Paintball Apocalypse - A hellish ride through zombie infested lands on a large, black, steel, double decker cart which is the only thing protecting you from certain infestation! Battle zombies by shooting glow in the dark paintballs at them as they attack - you have paintball guns and they dont!!

Individual tickets can be also be purchased on-line at www.screams.org. Use the super-secret, softball exclusive discount code “ZOMBIESBITE” to receive a 15% discount on your individual tickets.  Friday, October 5 is also Military night.
