Part-time Coach Ranee:
My name is Ranee Jackson. I have been bowling for over 30 years, and I absolutely love this sport. I have been coaching children for over four years through St. Martins. I would like to show your child that this sport can be fun, even though it seems challenging, just by keeping it simple.
Coach Neil:
My name is Neil Williams. I've been bowling competitively for about 15 years and been coaching for about 10 years. I love bowling, and I love to teach. It's a perfect marriage. I love kids and I love to teach children. I like the idea of getting the kids before they develop any bad habits and instill them with good habits and teach them the right way to bowl. I believe in a muscle free style of bowling. Bowling is about repeating shots. If you muscle the ball, that makes it very difficult to repeat shots. Whether you bowl with one hand or two, left-hand or right hand, the fundamentals are the same.
Edmund Ng:
I am a proud father of two beautiful kids and accomplished bowlers in their own right. My son Nicholas finished off his senior year anchoring The Bethpage Bowling Team to a Conference III title and received an All County award for High Average for Conference III. My daughter experienced going to states two years in a row and finished off her senior year with the girl's highest average in Nassau County and was named Newsday All Long Island Team of 2016. I offer my love for the game and my experience of being a part of my kids bowling career since they were 3 years old. I still have the drive to show future bowlers how great the sport of bowling is.
Edmond Wing:
I am Edmond Wing, the President of the St. Martin's Youth Scholarship Bowling League. I am also one of its coaches. I bowled in a youth league when I was a Junior High School student and did not pick it up again until 1988, a span of nine years, when I joined an adult league. That's how I met my wife of 25 years. While I didn't formally coach children until 2008 when my wife and I took over the league, I have coached my daughter, Meghan since she picked up the sport when she was 4 years old. She graduated from St. Francis College in May, 2017 and had a standout career as a member of the Women's Bowling Team. She will continue her education as a Graduate Student at LIU Post and will be the Assistant Coach of the Women's Bowling Team at LIU Post as they enter their second season. Our mission statement says that we not only instruct your children in the game of bowling but also in the game of life by teaching them important life skills such as sportsmanship, competitive play, building friendships and most importantly, having fun. I want to continue that tradition. If you want to as well, then have your child(ren) join our league. You won't be disappointed!
Coach Cheryl - currently not active with the league but is available for private coaching lessons:
I have over thirty years of bowling experience. I worked in a pro shop and attended many bowling ball company’s seminars for the past twenty years. I have bowled in local and national tournaments, in both men’s and woman’s competition. I have been giving lessons to bowlers of all ages for over fifteen years. At this point of my career, I have a wrist injury that prevents me from bowling, so I have turned my attention to helping the future bowlers of tomorrow. I believe that a bowler needs to better understand the physical and mental aspects of the sport. There is nothing more rewarding then giving lessons to a student and watching them reach their potential.
Lillian Wing:
I am Lillian Wing, the Secretary and the Treasurer of the St. Martin's Youth Scholarship Bowling League since my husband and I took it over in 2008. I am responsible for the financial and administration sides of the league. My responsibilities include but are not limited to handing out the standing sheet, placing and verifying the pay envelopes, submitting honor scores for awards achieved and signing up and registering the bowlers at various USBC tournaments. I've been bowling for over 30 years.
