Malden: After falling behind by 20 points at the half, the Malden High School Boys' basketball team fought back in the second half but ultimately fell, 69-59 to the Highlanders.  The Tornadoes got off to a slow start, trailing 23-15 after the first quarter.  Things went from bad to worse in the second quarter as the Tornadoes scored a paltry 6 points to find themselves down 41-21 at the half.

"We came out flat and really, really did a poor job at the defensive end in that first half." Coach Don Nally said after the tough defeat.  "We gave them far too many open shots and they took full advantage of them."

The open shots led to Somerville shooting a whopping 50% (8-16) from the 3pt line.  Malden fought back in the 3rd quarter, trimming 6 points off the lead.  In the 4th quarter, the Tornadoes made their run, cutting the lead to six with under 4 minutes to play.  The run didn't last, however, as Somerville held the lead as the game closed.  Rakeem Langston led the Tornadoes with 17 points, 15 coming in the second half during the team's run.

The Tornadoes have two games this week.  Wednesday night at Dracut and Friday night at Tewksbury.  Both game times set for 7pm.
