The Cumberland Orioles Won their season opener 10-2 against the Antietam Generals at Saint James High School in Hagerstown MD. Matt Oleskik Started game 1 for the Orioles going 2 innings before leaving due to elbow soreness, he allowed 2 hits, 1 earned run and struck out 4 before giving away to Cody Jefferys who earned the win going 5 strong innings of 2 hit baseball, allowing 1 run and 2 strikeouts. the Offense was led by Ben Russell who doubled and had 2 rbi's, Alex Hardy singled twice and Adam Stowell singled and had 2 rbi's for the Orioles.
In Game 2 which went into exrta innings was ended in a tie due to darkness at 2-2. Ben Russell Started on the mound for the Orioles, going 5 solid innings, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, 5 hits and 5 strikeouts, before giving away to Adam Stowell in the bottom half of the 6th; Stowell threw 4 innnings of scoreless ball and held the Generals to 2 hits and 4 strikeouts. Ben Russell Stayed Hot at the plate with a Double and a single, Chris Wilson and Roy Jefferys both had rbi singles for the Orioles.
Orioles are now 1-0-1 and will host the Mount Savage Athletics Saturday at Legion Field, for their league opener.
