Orioles split with Oakland in Championship Series rematch

Game 1    Orioles 12 - Oakland 6

Orioles took advantage of Oakland errors, and rode the hot bats of Hunter Jenkins and Cole Smith who combined for 8 hits in the game. Dan Streitbeck started on the mound for the Orioles, in his first start of the season he struggled at times with location but managed the damage with solid defense behind him, he finished the game with 11 walks, 5 hits and 5 strikeouts in allowing 6 runs. Jenkins collected 5 singles, and 2 stolen bases and scored 4 times, while Smith had 2 hits and an RBI double to get the scoring started for the Orioles in the 1st innning, while Roy Jefferies tripled home a run in the 2 inning to get the 5 run inning started.

 

Game 2   Orioles 5 - Oakland 6

Orioles let the lead slip away in the later innings, as they had a 4-1 lead in the 5th and Oakland answered with 5 runs in the final 3 innings, including the 2 in the bottom of the 7th to win it. Cody Jefferies started on the Mound for the O's, he went 7 strong innnings, allowing 13 hits, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts, absorbing the loss in the nightcap. Cole Smith Continued to swing a hot bat for the Orioles with a 3 hit game, Brent Parrish tripled home 2 runs in the 3rd to get the O's on the board. Cole Smith finished the day with 6 hits, 2 of which were doubles and 4 runs scored, a stolen base and RBI. 

Orioles are now 4-3-1 overall and 3-1 in league play, they travel to Petersburg to take on the Thunder tomorrow for a 1pm start time at Petersburg HS
