February 12, 2018 – 02:15 PM
Dear Referees,
We have been advised that the protocol to deal with unruly spectators in the HHSAA tournament would be to have the 4th official notify an HHSAA official of the situation. If no HHSAA official is in the vicinity, the 4th official shall contact the center referee and inform him/her of the situation. The center referee will take action which may include, among other options, suspending the game until the matter is resolved, even if it is a televised game.
In no event shall any of the officiating crew respond or communicate, verbally or physically (i.e. gesture, etc.), with the offending spectator.
