Nisqually Basin Youth Baseball 2021 Return to Play Plan

In an effort to bring youth baseball back to Yelm Nisqually Basin Youth Baseball has determined, in conjunction with Babe Ruth Baseball, Inc, to encourage and require the following:

·         Social Distancing should be observed between athletes, coaches, parents and spectators whenever it is reasonably possible to do so.

·         Facial coverings shall be worn whenever it is reasonably possible to do so.

o   NBYB recognizes that the nature of athletic contests might result in less than 100% compliance with facial coverings.  Every attempt shall be made, however, to comply with the facial covering requirement.

·         That equipment be sanitized whenever it is reasonable to do so.

o   Examples may include but are not limited to uses between players, usage between practices, and usage between games.

·         Good Hygiene practices will be adhered to.  Practices include but are not limited to:

o   Hand washing/sanitizing before and after practices.

o   Individual use of water bottles, etc.

o   Stagger team restroom breaks, etc.

·         Athletes will be sent home, or otherwise disallowed from participation, if they are not feeling well or if they exhibit signs or symptoms of not feeling well.

o   No athlete will have their lack of participation due to sickness counted against them.

·         Each team will furnish contact information for their athletes at the beginning of each contest to the opposing coach for the purpose of contact tracing should an athlete, coach or other participant fall ill within a reasonable time after the contest.

o   In such an event, both coaches will make every effort to contact, in a timely manner, the president of the league or in his/her absence the league vice president.

·         Coaches, parents, and other adult volunteers are expected to use their good judgement to ensure the safety of youth athletes.  Coaches are free to expand or curtail these requirements in the interest of athlete safety.

o   For example, given the fact that youth athletes have not had much movement over the last 9 months, and they may reasonably be expected to be out of shape. If a coach notices an athlete having a hard time breathing in a mask during a strenuous drill, they are expected to curtail the use of facemasks for a brief time so the athlete can breathe freely.

It is the responsibility of the league to require, the coach to encourage, and the parents to comply.  In the event of discrepancies, the matter will be documented and forwarded to the NBYB Board of Directors for a review and may result in a player, coach or team losing their 2021 baseball season.  Please don’t be the reason we lose our season!
