Good afternoon, all!
I hope you have enjoyed the summer and been keeping active!
Our Season is set to start this Sunday the 27th!
1st game is Smokey Joes Vs Hooligans at 9:30am
2nd game is Stone Hands Vs River Rats at 10:50am
Pineapple gang has the bye week this week and will not be playing the 27th (This Sunday)
I just wanted to go over some stuff before we begin the season play.
Non-Check League. 1st off I want to remind everyone, in this league, body checking opposing players is not allowed. We go by USA Hockey rules. They define a check as follows.
"When a player makes intentional physical contact with the opponent using overt hip, Shoulder, forearm or torso action. This includes physically forcing the opponent off the ball and with NO EFFORT TO LEGALLY PLAY THE BALL"
The main point of action needs to be focused on the ball! That’s what the refs will be looking for this season.
COMPETITIVE CONTACT LEAGUE. However, Competitive contact is 100% fine. This is defined as follows. "Competitive contact hockey does not mean no contact; Legal contact occurs when players are focused on gaining possession of the ball and are simply maintaining an established body position. This most often occurs when two players are physically engaged in front of the goal or along the boards. Competitive contact also occurs when a player has established an angle on the opponent and closes the gap to create an opening that is too small for the ball carrier to advance."
Good sportsmanship. This is what our league prides itself on. Be a good sport on and off the rink. play a competitive game but respect who you are playing. If you bump someone accidently, or slash em or just do something that might cause pain to another player simply apologize for it. Don’t shit talk people with malicious intent. if it's a buddy you are just kidding around with that’s fine.
NO YELLING AT REFS. Last 2 seasons, we have had way too much of this and it isn't going to be tolerated going forward. If I myself see it, I will not hesitate to kick you off the rink for the game. Refs are volunteers donating their time to provide us with a service which the league cannot run without. Accept what they call or don’t call and move on. No exceptions.
League Fees. Finally, if you are a cash payer, please bring your league fee of $40.00 game 1. I don't want to be the bad guy. But if you don't pay, you don't play. I want everyone to be able to show up, play and have fun!
With all that out of the way. Let’s have a fantastic season all! I look forward to playing with and against each one of you! Let’s have a great Fall season!
Thank you!
Dan H
