Good afternoon SSBHL Community!

Last week, we saw some good hockey, some spots were rough around the edges and I would like to see better attitudes next week regarding reefing, opposing players, and in general just better sportsmanship. With that said, Lets jump into the Top players of the week…

Offensive Bonanza!

1st) Coming in at #1 this week is the Spiders Dominate forward, J-Mac! J-mac was an absolute Menace last Sunday and went on a point scoring tear, He singlehandedly carved up the Hawks Defense and Goaltending, with multiple breakaways opportunities, J-mac scored 4 goals and got himself 2 assists! Overall, a hell of a game for the young forward and will look to build off that performance in this coming Sundays game! Nicely done!

2nd) At number 2 this week we have a split tie in points with Thamid Zuberi of the Spiders, and Nick Provenzano of the Pitbull’s! Thamid was in the right place at the right time multiple times last week, placing himself in high scoring positions and was able to rack up 4 goals with 1 assist! By far his best performance of the season so far and will look to keep the ball rolling! Nick Provenzano had a nice balance of 3 goals and 2 assists! And was crucial in his team’s overtime victory vs the Stone Hands. He was running up and down the rink and drew multiple penalties to help his team get important power plays. Terrific work gentlemen!

3rd) Tied in 3^rd we have two of Smokey Joes Players, Aidan Lovett and Matty Swan These two might be sharing a brain as they just know exactly what the other is going to do or is going to be. Aidan with 1 goal and 3 assists and Swan with 3 goals and 1 assist, they seemingly mirror each other each week! With a combined 8 points, it seems no one can stop this duo yet! Both Aidan and Swan will look to capitalize on the matchup this week with the Pitbull’s which looks to be an exciting match!

Dashing Defensive Play!

1st) Coming in this week at #1 is Stone Hands own Gianni Sciola Who was doing his absolute best to block every shot in his vicinity! G was on a mission from God to stop every shot under the sun! I think I can honestly say I’ve never seen any player block so many shots, it had to have been far into the double digest and did everything in his power to try and get the win! He had the heart of a warrior that game and out his body on the line all game long! Nice effort G!

2nd) Aaron Gerstel of the Smokey Joes takes the number 2 slot! Aaron was a beast on the defensive end of the game and was shutting down plays all game long! Aaron also scored 1 goal and got 1 assist, getting him 2 points to help his team win the game! Aaron was a man possessed on the rink Sunday and was making the Hooligans life miserable. Magnificent work Aaron!

3rd) In 3^rd we have the Spiders Steve O’Brein Who was all over the rink Sunday! It seemed like on Sunday we had 3 Steves on the rink! At one-point he’s in the offensive zone keeping play alive, the next second he’s sprinted back on the defensive end breaking up a play. The guy is everywhere all at once and no one seems prepared to deal with his presence on the rink. His influence and fingerprints are all over the rink every Sunday and has been a monster reason for his team’s success! Keep it going Steve!

Gladiator Goaltending!

1st) Finally, we get a new Leader in the goalie Department! Paul Mendonca Takes the cake at #1 with a Steller performance against the Hooligans! Paul aka Panda faced a total of 30 shots and allowed only 3 goals, which gave him a sleek save % of 0.900! and a GAA of 3.0! Panda has been enjoying this fall with solid numbers and great performances all season long. Hes going to have to be sharp this week against the Pitbull’s! Nicely done Panda!

2nd) Back In the top 3, Nick BonoFiglio takes the #2 slot this week! Nick had a hard-fought game against one of the best duos in the league of Swan and Aidan! Nick faced a staggering 42 shots and managed to stop 37 of them! Maintaining a Save % of 0.881 and a GAA of 5.0. Honestly, very impressive work considering who he was up against. Nice work Nick and good to see you back in the top slots!

3rd) In 3^rd Manny Debettencourt jumps in with a solid performance and a good win against the Stone Hands. Manny 44 shots on net and was forced to play an overtime period as well! Manny managed to stop 38 of the 44 shots, and acquired a save % of .864 and a GAA of 5.77. Overall, solid work by Manny and got his team that all important extra point with the OT win! Impressive job!

Additional Props!

Ben Lotzkar of the Spiders was looking refreshed last Sunday and got his 1^st Multipoint game in his SSBHL Carrer! Getting 2 assists fed right to Thamid who was perfectly in front of the net. Ben also did a great job overall keeping the play alive in his opponent’s offensive zone! Magnificent work! And congrats on the multipoint game!

Jeff Beattie of the Hawks did all he could to help his team put up some points last week with 3 assists to his line mate Ryan! Jeff also was just all over the rink and was back checking like a champion! Heroic effort Jeff and keep up the solid work!

Brendan Merrick also had a great game for his return to the SSBHL with an incredible 3 assists! He was also backchecking and breaking up plays on all fronts of the game and was looking solid! Great return game buddy and glad to see you back!
