Good afternoon, all!
Sorry for the delay with this again, I was sick most this week and was busy recovering from that! With last Sunday concluded, we are almost at the final 10th week! The last push for the playoffs! As of now, I think every team is still able to get in! Those final 2 spots are up for grabs, only 1st and 2nd are locked at this point and time. Who wants it more!? Will be interesting to see! With that said, lets jump into the 9th weeks top performers!
High Octane Offense
1st) In 1st place this week we The Red-Hot Hawks Newest Winger, Matt Holleran! Matt was a beast on the offensive end all game long and was a nightmare for the Hooligans Flex goalie, Andy. Matt Managed to rack up a massive 4 goals and 3 assists! netting himself a total of 7 points! Considering the team at 10 goals total, and Matt had a hand in 7 of those, it is something else! The hawks have been on a tear since acquiring Holleran and have really picked up and found there game late in the season, With the team playing the way they have, they are now currently holding the 4th playoff spot after being down in last place, what a storybook come back to climb their way back into the playoff contention. Matt has a MASSIVE part in that. Well, done!
2nd) Coming into the 2nd place slot is none other than the Stone Hands Captain, Steve Wilde! Steve played a large part in helping his team come back in the 3rd period with a scoring explosion on the 1st place Spiders and was a key reason they handed them the 2nd loss of the year. Steve Had 3 goals and 3 assists in the game which combined into a total of 6 points overall in the match. Steve has had expert leadership and manages to steer the ship of his squad into the 3rd place slot currently. His Leadership and intelligent management of his team, along with his play picking up as of late, has helped lead the way for his team. Overall, an impressive job by Steve!
3rd) The 3rd place spot is grabbed up by the Hooligans Captain, B-Mac! Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this guy, though lately his team has struggled a bit, B-Mac keeps going strong with his talent on the squad and his leadership! with a total of 1 goal and 5 assists, B-mac acquired 6 points total. Currently, The Hooligans are out of the playoffs but still have hope if they can win the next game, and it’s going to take another strong performance by B-mac, But, He will need help and whichever linemate steps up, could swing the team back into a playoff spot, Only time will tell!
D-FENCE
1st) Coming in at Number 1 in the defensive end this week is once again, Hawks Player, Ty Anderson! Another Massive reason for the Hawks recent success is due in fact to Ty's defensive prowess and his ability to read the play and anticipate it. He’s contribution to the offensive end is also a monster help! With 3 assists last week, Ty was a key member and player! Ty's game has been strong during the recent win streak of the Hawks, and he’s going to look to keep it going into the last week of the season and to secure a playoff spot! Great work mate!
2nd) Holding Strong at 2nd place this week is everyone’s favorite player, Eddie Long! Big Ed was honestly larger than life last game, both on the even strength play and the shorthanded. Ed sacrificed the body multiple times, diving into the way of the shooting lane and helping to minimize the shots on his goalie. Eddies, recent elevation of his game has been key in his team’s ability to win games and is a big reason why they have climbed back into the playoff race and are holding 3rd currently.
3rd) Our 3rd place defensive monster also belongs to a member of the Stone Hands, Gianni Sciola! G made it almost impossible to set up any effective plays in the offensive zone for the Spiders players. He was reading the play, blocking shots, breaking up high danger chances, and overall, just made the offensive play a nightmare for the Spiders. G Combined with Big Ed is a potent defensive combo that has made it difficult as of late for teams to get any real scoring chances going on. Overall, amazing work!
Guardian Goalies
1st) In 1st place for goaltending is once again The Hawks sleek goalie, Brad Wall! Brad has managed to raise his game at the right time! After struggling throughout the beginning of the season, Brad has recovered with grace and style! Keeping his team alive and being a pillar to the wins! Brad Faced 50 shots last week and stopped 43 of them, getting the all-important win and managed to save % of 860. Brad will look to keep the pace this Sunday in his matchup against Smokey Joes!
2nd) The 2nd place slot is held up by the Pitbull’s Goalie, Manny Debettencourt! Manny Looked solid last week and tried his best to withstand the constant attack by Matt Swan and Aiden, and did manage to get his squad to overtime and claimed 1 point out of it. Manny Faced in total 42 Shots and stopped 36 of them and held a save % of .857. Manny will need his biggest game of the season this Sunday if he hopes to get his team into the playoffs, the odds are not on their side, but there is still light if they can win this Sunday!
3rd) In 3rd place is Smokey Joes Goalie, Paul Mendonca, AKA Panda! Panda played a solid all-around game and managed to get the win in the push by the hungry Pitbulls. Paul faced 39 Shots and stopped 33 of them, and managed to maintain and hold a save % of .846. Paul has had a nice season this year and wants to keep pace with his game vs the Hawks this Sunday and will give his team a chance to steal 1st place if the cards all line up.
