Good morning SSBHL Family!
The Spring Season is now right around the corner! And set to start March 16th the schedule is out and updated on the website so please feel free to check that out!
Just a couple of quick things to go over, if you have not paid your league fee yet, please do so asap as this season’s expenses where a bit more with renting the rink and switching shirt vendors.
For the 1st game of the season, we will be doing a moment of silence for our dearly departed Arthur Reynolds, so just keep that in mind. You will notice all the shirts this season have a #35 on the sleeves to honor his memory.
Gianni Sciola is returning as the captain of the Beavers this season, so a big shoutout to him for stepping up and taking the spot! We greatly appreciate the work G!
Our 1st weeks games are as follows…
March 16th Pitbull’s Vs Smokey Joes 9:00AM (Marshfield) (Key matchup: Matt Holleran Vs Ryan Doherty)
March 16th Hooligans Vs Beavers 10:30AM (Marshfield) (Key Matchup: J-Mac Vs Nick Provenzano)
March 16th Stone Hands Vs Spiders 12:00PM (Marshfield) Key Matchup: Aidan Lovett Vs Brendan Merrick)
This season looks like it’s going to be an amazing and close one! Just want everyone to remember, this is all for fun, exercise, and a good time! Please, don’t take it so seriously… series trash talk and physical play is not going to be tolerated. No one wants to be limping into work the next day because they got chopped in the ankle or shoved over by someone taking things too far. Don’t be an ass, Play with respect to everyone with and against you. Be calm and remember, its only a game, there is no cash reward for winning or contract deal waiting for you, those times have passed most of us by lol. Take this league for what it is, a good reason for some exercise and some fun with friends and like-minded individuals who love the game of hockey. Don’t ruin it by being a jerk and taking it too far. We all need to go to work the next day, so keep that in mind. Accidents can happen though, you might get tripped on a play or accidentally slashed by a stick, or maybe someone runs into you by accident, don’t flip out, I can almost guarantee they did it by mistake and there were no ill intentions, take min to catch your breath and calm yourself before losing your mind at an accident. DON’T ESCALTE things when it isn’t necessary. I recommend you all wear shin pads to minimize being accidently slashed. The refs will do their best to see the calls, but again, we are not pros, we will do our best but be patient with us. Do not under any circumstances scream at a ref as this will result in an unsportsmanlike penalty against you who yelled.
With all that said, I am looking forward to a formidable and exciting season and can’t wait to see you all Sunday the 16th! 😊
Thank you!
