2nd Week Spring SSBHL Stats and High Performers

Good afternoon SSBHL Family!

We had an excellent week 2 Last Sunday! Was a very windy and chilly morning but nothing our players can’t handle! Wind or shine, we are out there playing hard! With that, lets jump into our high performers of the week!

Scoring Bonanza

1st) in 1st is someone who’s no stranger to the top slot is the Stone Hands Dynamic forward, Aidan Lovett. Aidan Had a hand in every single goal in last weeks match against the Hooligans, with 6 points total, 4 goals and 2 assists! Such an insane performance and an absolute powerhouse of a forward! Aidan was able to capitalize on almost every play he was involved with. With multiple breakaways goals, from a backhander to a backhand forehand tuck away into the goalies 5 hole, He was on a rampage of producing points and offense. Aidan is currently tied In 1st for points this season, Nicely done sir! Keep up the good work!

2nd) Our second place slot this week is occupied by two players this week, Two Smokey Joes Players, Matt Swan and Ryan Doherty! Matt ended the day with 4 goals and 1 assist and Ryan with 2 goals and 3 assists, both ending the day with 5 points each! Both players were on the ball all game long! Swan lots of times from the defensive point shooting off a slap shot to score of have the rebound collected from Ryan, and Ryan as a forward dishing out and being the playmaker he is! The combo just came up shy of the win but still put together an impressive performance and look to redeem their squad this Sunday! Well done guys!

3rd) In the last offensive slot we have the Stone Hands Captain, Steve Wilde, who once again enjoyed a highly productive game against the Hooligans. Steve Was able to find the back of the net 2 times and was able to dish it off to Aidan for another 3 assists, which netted Steve 5 Points total in that game, Steve also sits tied at the top of the leaderboard in scoring at 10 Points. Even with 5 points in that game, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Hooligans speed and scoring last week and Steve will look to readjust in this weeks coming game. All and all, great performance still!

Dirty Defense

1st) Our Top defensive slot this week is owned by the Beavers red hot defenseman, Gianni Sciola! G was an offensive monster as well as a defensive nightmare for the Joes. G managed to get 3 goals, and 1 assist, ending the day with 4 points! At one point in the 2nd period, G collected a rebound and flipped in a graceful backhand goal over the glove side of the keeper. G was also launching bombs from the point to find the back of the net twice. G was also on top of blocking shots, disrupting plays in the offensive zone and guided his team to victory. Just a terrific performance from a top caliber player in the league, stellar work good sir.

2nd) Coming in fast at the 2nd slot is the Spiders Defensive player, Matt Hocking! Matt was looking sharp all game long and helped guide his club to victory with an overall solid performance, Netting himself a nice 3 point performance with 1 goal and 2 assists in the day! Matt was flying and cruising out there, sprinting up and down the rink with ease, looking revitalized and fresh. Matt was also responsible for clearing the ball out multiple times in high danger areas, Sacrificing the body to block a few shots, and was helping direct his team in certain situations.

3rd) The last defensive slot will be going towards the Hooligans D-man, Stephen Ritz! Ritz was highly productive as a defensive player last week! With a nice total of 3 points in the day, scoring 1 empty net goal to help seal the deal, and 2 assists! Ritz was in the right place at the right time for multiple stops though out the day and helped his team limit the damage done to them though the match against the tenacious Stone Hands squad! He was also forced to play lots of minutes as the Hooligans were down 3 players! Overall a great job By Ritz and the entire Hooligans squad for coming though very depleted!

Tremendous Tending

1st) Its been awhile since we’ve seen him In the top spot, But Here he is back at it again, Brad Wall Had his best game in the last 2 seasons! Facing in total a respectable 26 Shots faced and stopping 24 of them, only allowing 2 GAA with a Save % of .923! Brad was looking like his old self, sliding laterally extremely well and with accuracy! Stepping up to shooters to be aggressive in his net to take away the shooting angles, and being very vocal, calling out the plays to his defensive mates and squad to help quarterback the team. Brad was awesome all around and will look to keep the momentum going next week in his match against a high scoring Beavers Squad!

2nd) Our 2nd best goalie of the week was the Stone Hands Keeper, Manny DeBettencourt Who faced the highest amount of shots last week at 45 shots, stopping 38 of them and maintaining a save % of .844. Manny was looking solid all game long and did a great job of keeping his team in range to win the game. Although they came up just shy, it was a solid effort all around by Manny, good effort sir!

3rd) The third place is held and locked in by the Hooligans tender, Paul Mendonca, AKA Panda! Paul was solid and had a great all around performance, facing 38 shots and subduing 32 of them! Holding a Save percentage of .842. Paul managed to keep and maintain the lead and faced many high danger scoring chances from Steve Wildes Stone hands Squad. Great Work Panda and keep the winning alive!

Whole Squad Shoutout!

I do a lot of individual accolades, but last Sunday I noticed something very special and Rare! The Spiders, every player on the team registered points in the last game! Jeff Beattie, 2 PTS, Evan Couper, 2 PTS, Derek Goguen, 1 PTS, Matt Hocking, 3 PTS, Matt Leary, 1 PTS, Brendan Merrick, 2 PTS, Tyler Merrick, 1 PTS, and Brendan O’Brien, 2 PTS! Just absolutely incredible all around team performance and dedication and chemistry in only the 2nd game of the season! Spiders, Great Job!
