Good afternoon SSBHL Family!

Well, we finally are back! After 3 weeks off due to rain outs twice and Easter Sunday, We were able to return and get some league games in! a little but different this season as because we had so many rain outs, we have now needed to add on an extra game at 1:30 to make up  one of the missed weeks. I know this isn’t the ideal situation, but We need to ensure all teams play each other an even amount and we get all 10 games in. So, I sincerely want to thank you for your patience and understanding with the schedule change and updates as we traverse the difficult weather patterns. With all that said, let dive into some numbers and high performers!

Blitzkrieg Offense

1)       Coming to our top slot of the week would be none other than the Stone hands dynamic caption, Mr. Steve Wilde. Steve had an incredible 1^st game playing against the Spiders. Steve racked up 3 goals and 3 assists in his 10:30 matchup, totaling 6 points and helped his team edge them out in overtime! Steve looked refreshed and rejuvenated from the 3-week break and will look to keep the ball rolling! In this makeup game this week he also had 4 points with 3 goals and 1 assist. Playing two games on the same day is never an easy task but Steve showed he was up for the challenge and helped his team break even for the day with 1 win and 1 loss. Overall great work Steve!

2)       Our 2^nd place assassin would be yet another Stone Hands killer, known as Aidan Lovett! Aidan had 2 great games this week as well, 1^st one vs the Spiders with 2 goals and 2 assists to finish that game at 4 points, and then the exact same stat line against the Beavers. Aidan also got the game winning overtime goal vs. the Spiders to get that all important 2 points! Aidan makes it look like child’s play as he cuts though defenders like a hot knife though butter every game! This guy is one of the elites of the league and keeps showing ways he can contribute to his team’s success.

3)       Our 3^rd ranking point production prospect is the Smokey Joes captain, Matty Swan. Swan was looking sharp with the new dew and was playing sharp as well and earned himself a cool 4 points as well with 2 goals and 2 assists in the day. Swan is no stranger to the top 3 list and once again we are not surprised to see him here shining. With his dominate performance and leadership, they quickly overwhelmed the Pitbulls and claimed a 7-2 win and improved to 2-2 for the season!

Dogged defense

1)       Our Best defensive player of the week would definitely be The Stone Hands Stallion, Danny Gately! Danny ability to relentlessly run and track down the ball was pivotal in the Stone Hands Victory against the Spiders! Not only was Danny able to contribute on the defense front but also played a major role in point production this week, with 1 goal and 1 assist, Danny was on a quest to harass and drive every offensive player insane with constant pressure and presence around the ball at all times. Overall, a splendid job!

2)       Matt Leary, Captain of the Spiders would come in at 2^nd place with suffocating defense as always. Leary is like the cover to a flame, putting out anything near him, and absolutely snuffs out any offense in his vicinity! Leary was all over the play in yesterday’s game against the Stone Hands Offensive players and sought out and destroyed most high danger opportunities and chances. Matt also got on the bored with 1 goal and 1 assist. Excellent like always good sir, Bravo!

3)       The last slotted defensive player would be the Smokey Joes Stalworth defender, Josh Chrmatz! Josh was on the ball all game, blocking shot after shot, interrupting dangerous plays, activating the defense by jumping into the play and keeping the ball alive in the zone. Josh is always hard to play against and his steady and solid play is a staple to any team that gets him. Great work buddy!

              Exceptional Goaltending

1)       Coming in at the number one goalie spot this week by a considerable amount would be the Smokey Joes Larger than life goaltender, Nick Bonofiglio! Nick was tested often in his match vs the Pitbull’s but held strong and slammed the closed only allowing 2 goals on 40 shots! Making 38 saves and maintaining an incredible save % of .950!!! Amazing work by Big Nick and will look to keep that momentum going into next weeks double header!

2)       The 2^nd place slot will be going to Beavers Tendy, Dan Harding. Dan was solid in his 2^nd game of the double header week for his squad, as he faced a volley of shots from the attacking Stone Hands, facing 54 shots and stopping 49 of them, and ended that game with a save % of .907 for the day. Not too shabby having already played an entire game previously and managed to help his team go 1-1 in the day.

3)       Our 3^rd place goaltender for the week would be the Hooligans tenacious tendy Paul Mendonca, AKA Panda! Panda played a very sturdy match in his rematch against the Beavers and managed to get his revenge and stopped 29 of the 33 shots put on him, only allowing 4 goals and maintaining a cool collected save % of .879 and had his best performance of the season so far. Paul will look to build on the momentum and keep it going with a stronger performance next week! Great work buddy, solid stops.
