Cubs vs. Nationals
It was a championship rematch tonight for the Cubs and Nationals. The Nationals were up first to bat with the first batter being struck out. Then the second batter was up and managed to get onto first base. This is where the 1st inning took a weird turn for the Naitonals as this is something that doesn't happen often to the team. The third batter was up to the plate and hit the ball with it being caught, but the National on the first base took off towards second and didn't wait for the ball to be caught. The Cubs got the double play after throwing the ball to first base since the National didn't wait to tag up at first. With a quick three outs it was now the Cubs up to bat. The Cubs struggled a bit in the bottom of the 1st inning with the first two batters striking out, but did manage to get a the third and fourth batters to first and second base while the third batter struck out. The end of the 1st inning came to and end with the score being 0-0. As the 2nd inning started it was a 1, 2, 3 strike with the score being 0-0 at the end. Then the 3rd inning started with the Naitonals up to bat. They were getting a few of the bats swinging and getting the third batter to first base, but it wasn't enough to bring anyone to the homeplate. The bottom of the 3rd inning changed the score with the Cubs scoring one run. Now the score is 1-0 at the start of the 4th inning. The first batter was a ground out with the second batter up now, the Nationals got a double. The next batter was struck out at homeplate with the third out coming with a groundout. Now it's the bottom of the 4th and this is where things took a turn for the Cubs. The first three batters scored bringing the score to 4-0. The fourth batter swung and hit the ball to make it to first base. The next two batters struck out with the third being a groundout again. The Nationals then started the top of the 5th inning and sadly it was 1, 2, 3, strikes and the game was over. Both teams played their best and both had great plays but in the end, the Cubs came out on top just like in the 2024 Minor League Championship.
