Good afternoon SSBHL crew.
Another week, 4 more games played. And with last week’s game done, we are officially all caught up with games played now even. Glad we were able to get through the weather adversity and still play all our scheduled games. Let’s hope for the last few weeks we can get though with no more rain. Just wanted to again restate how important sportsmanship is and respect for the refs. Guys, we all need to remember they are doing the best they can to manage the game and keep the pace going. You must remember, you have absolutely no right to scream at them, it is unacceptable and will not be tolerated going forward. Feel We have been to lenient on this lately, but no more. Any more instances of this are going to result in a 3 game suspension going forward and will be handed down personally from me, no votes will be done by the captains, I will just hammer down the suspension. Let me be perfectly clear…no one is safe from this, if I hear any yelling from a player, Captain, whoever… its going to result in a heavy suspension. This is the one and ONLY warning. Do not test my patience on this, I am absolutely sick of the screaming and yelling and childish behavior. We are adults, this is a fun league, No more nonsense… I hope that is clear.
With that out of the way, lets get info the numbers and our top performers…
Offensive Dominance!
1) Lovett Lights the Lamp: 7-Point Explosion Fuels Stone Hands Victory
The Stone Hands found their offensive spark in Aidan Lovett, who delivered a career-defining performance in their latest game, netting five goals and adding two assists for a jaw-dropping seven-point night.
Lovett was electric from the opening faceoff, slicing through the defense with ease and finding soft spots in the offensive zone like a seasoned sniper. His off-the-ball awareness was on full display, as he consistently made himself available in high-danger areas — and when the ball found his stick, he didn’t miss.
Every shot was a threat, and Lovett’s lethal accuracy made the opposing goalie’s night a nightmare. Whether ripping one-timers from the slot or finishing breakaways with clinical precision, Lovett proved nearly impossible to contain.
But it wasn’t just his goal-scoring prowess that stood out — Lovett also dished out two slick assists, showing that he can both finish and facilitate. His ability to read the rink, anticipate defenders, and create space for teammates gave the Stone Hands a dominant edge all night.
This performance not only showcased Lovett's elite offensive instincts but also cemented him as one of the most dangerous forwards in the league. If he keeps finding seams and shooting like this, opposing defenses are in serious trouble.
2) B-Mack Dominates with 6-Point Night in Hooligans Victory
The Hooligans' offensive powerhouse and team captain, B-Mack, delivered a statement performance in last night’s game, racking up an incredible five goals and one assist in a dominant outing that showcased every element of his game. With six total points, B-Mack didn’t just lead the scoreboard—he led by example.
From the drop of the puck, B-Mack set the tone with relentless forechecking, putting the opposition on their heels and forcing turnovers that quickly turned into scoring opportunities. His ability to pressure defenders and win battles along the boards created chaos in the offensive zone and opened up lanes not just for himself, but for his teammates.
But it wasn’t just his offensive flair that stood out. B-Mack played a complete 200-foot game, using his high hockey IQ and strong positioning to shut down rushes and win key defensive zone draws. Whether breaking up plays or backchecking to stop odd-man rushes, his presence was felt at both ends of the rink,
As captain, B-Mack’s leadership was on full display. He elevated the energy on the bench, rallied his teammates during tight moments, and drove the tempo every time he stepped on the ice. His performance was more than just numbers—it was a masterclass in what it means to be a leader.
With this kind of performance, B-Mack continues to prove why he's the heart and soul of the Hooligans—and one of the most dangerous two-way players in the league.
3) J-Mac Dazzles with Six-Point Night in Hooligans' Offensive Onslaught
In a game that will be remembered for pure offensive brilliance, J-Mac of the Hooligans put on an absolute clinic, racking up six assists en route to a dominant team performance. With a jaw-dropping six-point night, J-Mac didn’t just set the tone—he was the tone.
From the drop of the puck, J-Mac’s blazing speed and lightning-quick transition game kept the opposition on their heels. Time and again, he turned defensive recoveries into immediate scoring chances, often going coast-to-coast to create chaos in the attacking zone. His end-to-end rushes weren’t just flashy—they were strategic, forcing defenders to collapse and opening up ice for his teammates to capitalize.
What separated J-Mac from the rest on this night, though, was his uncanny ability to read the offensive zone play like a seasoned chess master. He seemed to anticipate every bounce, every lane, and every defensive breakdown, distributing crisp, tape-to-tape passes that resulted in high-danger opportunities. Whether it was a slick drop pass in transition or a no-look feed from behind the net, J-Mac was the engine driving the Hooligans’ offense.
While the scoreboard may only show his name in the assist column, make no mistake: this was a statement game from a player who’s proving to be among the most dynamic offensive threats in the league. With performances like this, J-Mac isn’t just collecting points—he’s cementing his place as the heartbeat of the Hooligans’ attack.
Defensive Destruction!
1) Matt Leary Shines in Defensive Masterclass, Sparks Spiders' OT Comeback Win
In a gritty, high-stakes matchup that had fans on the edge of their seats, it was defenseman Matt Leary who delivered a standout performance, propelling the Spiders to a thrilling overtime victory.
Leary was a wall on the rink all night, putting his body on the line to block a series of blistering shots and keeping the ball away from the crease with fearless tenacity. His defensive instincts were razor-sharp, as he relentlessly forechecked and executed textbook stick checks to neutralize the opposing team's top scoring threats. Time and time again, Leary shut down high-danger opportunities before they could even materialize.
But Leary’s impact didn’t stop in the defensive zone. He turned defense into offense, first scoring on a gritty second-effort rebound after crashing the net with purpose. Later, with the Spiders on the power play and facing the end of the game, Leary struck again—firing home a clutch goal that kept his team’s hopes alive and the crowd roaring. He also chipped in an assist, showing off his offensive IQ and ability to make smart, timely plays under pressure.
As the game pushed into overtime, it was clear Leary’s presence had tilted the momentum. His relentless energy, two-way excellence, and leadership by example were instrumental in the Spiders clawing their way back and sealing the comeback win.
Matt Leary didn’t just play defense—he dominated every inch of the ice. On a night full of turning points, he was the difference-maker.
2) Pitbulls Fall Short, but Captain Pat Schultz Shines in Solid Defensive Performance
Despite a tough loss for the Pitbulls, captain Pat Schultz delivered a commendable performance that reminded everyone why he wears the "C" on his chest.
Schultz was everywhere on the ice Sunday afternoon, leading by example and playing with relentless energy from the first whistle to the final buzzer. As the backbone of the defense, he disrupted multiple dangerous rushes by the opposition, reading plays with precision and timing his challenges perfectly. On a afternoon when the Pitbulls were under pressure, Schultz’s tireless work helped limit high-danger opportunities.
It wasn’t just his defensive prowess on display—Schultz stepped up offensively as well. He tallied a goal and added two slick assists, finishing the night with three points.
As fatigue began to slow others down late in the third, Schultz still had gas in the tank. He logged heavy minutes, often double-shifting, and never let up—blocking shots, breaking up odd-man rushes, and rallying his teammates until the very end.
While the scoreboard didn’t fall in the Pitbulls’ favor this time, Pat Schultz’s performance was a shining example of heart, hustle, and elite two-way play.
3) Hooligans’ Buckley Dominates Defensive Zone, Scores in Gritty Win
In a high-stakes showdown that came down to the wire, the Hooligans leaned heavily on the gritty, relentless play of star defenseman Nick "Buck" Buckley — and he delivered in a big way.
Buckley was an absolute force on the blue line, playing with unmatched energy and intensity from start to finish. He harassed the opposition relentlessly, constantly pressuring ball carriers and forcing turnovers. Whether it was with a well-timed poke check or a body block, Buck shut down dangerous scoring chances all game long.
Time and time again, Buckley put his body on the line, eating up shot after shot to keep his team in the game. His stick was seemingly everywhere, disrupting passes and clearing lanes with precision. Beyond his defensive heroics, Buck also anchored the Hooligans’ offensive zone pressure, keeping the ball in with smart pinches and heads-up reads that sustained crucial momentum.
And when the Hooligans needed a spark, Buck stepped up offensively. With a defender closing fast, he ripped a pinpoint wrist shot from the hash marks that found the top corner, leaving the goalie stunned and swinging the game’s momentum. He later added a vital assist, setting up a goal in a game that was tightly contested from the opening faceoff.
From start to finish, Nick Buckley’s two-way dominance was on full display — a performance that not only secured the win but reinforced his status as one of the league’s premier defensive stalwarts.
Goaltending guardians!
1) Godfrey Answers the Call: Emergency Goalie Backstops Hooligans to Victory
In one of the most unexpected storylines of the season, the Hooligans found their unlikely savior in net Sunday—Andy Godfrey, a high-performing goalie not even on the team's official roster. Called in as an emergency backup, Godfrey didn’t just fill the gap—he dominated, leading the Hooligans to a crucial win over the Smokey Joes.
Thrust into action with the team's starting goalie unavailable, Godfrey turned aside 37 of 41 shots, finishing with an impressive .902 save percentage. His cocky demeanor and athletic stops were pivotal in the Hooligans’ 6-3 victory, a result that placed them into 1st
Godfrey’s poise was tested early and often, particularly by Smokey Joes’ captain and offensive powerhouse, Matt Swan. Swan peppered the net throughout the game, including multiple high-danger chances in the second period alone, but Godfrey stood tall, making a string of jaw-dropping saves that swung the momentum squarely in the Hooligans’ favor.
"Andy was lights out," said one Hooligans defender Nick Buckley postgame. "He came in under pressure and gave us a chance to win—and we did. That’s all you can ask for."
Though he wasn’t on the roster when the season began, Godfrey's name is now etched in Hooligans lore. In a Big game, he showed up, shut the door, and helped steal a win when the stakes couldn’t have been higher.
Whether it was a one-night stand or the beginning of something more, Andy Godfrey’s performance won’t soon be forgotten. Hence his nickname, “big Game Andy”
2) Bonofiglio Stands Tall Despite Tough Loss to the Hooligans
In a hard-fought battle between two competitive teams, goaltender Nick Bonofiglio delivered a standout performance between the pipes, even as his team came up short in a 6-3 loss to the Hooligans.
Bonofiglio was a workhorse all night, facing a barrage of 46 shots and turning aside 40 of them, finishing with a .870 save percentage. From the opening faceoff to the final buzzer, Nick showcased sharp reflexes, poised positioning, and unwavering focus, keeping his team in the fight as the Hooligans applied relentless offensive pressure.
Despite the final scoreline, Bonofiglio’s performance was anything but ordinary. He made several highlight-reel saves, including a pair of breakaway stops and a sprawling glove save late in the second period that brought the crowd to its feet. His calm under pressure and ability to handle high-danger chances stood out as the difference-maker in preventing the score from getting out of hand.
“Nick gave us every chance to win tonight,” said one Captain Swan after the game. “He kept us in it with some massive saves—we just couldn’t capitalize at the other end.”
With consistent performances like this one, it’s clear that Bonofiglio remains a cornerstone for his squad. While the loss may sting, his resilience and elite play continue to be a bright spot and a reason for optimism moving forward.
3) Brad Wall Stands Tall in Net as Team Clinches Overtime Victory
In a high-octane matchup that had fans on the edge of their seats, goaltender Brad Wall delivered a gritty and respectable performance to backstop his team to a crucial overtime win. Wall faced a relentless offensive onslaught, turning aside 38 of 44 shots and finishing the night with a .864 save percentage.
While the numbers may not tell the full story, Wall's impact was undeniable. Time and again, he came up with timely stops to keep his team within striking distance, including a pair of game-saving efforts late in the third period that ultimately gave his squad the chance to force overtime.
In the extra frame, Wall remained composed under pressure, shutting the door when it mattered most and allowing his team to complete the comeback with a clutch game-winner.
The win adds another notch to Wall’s solid campaign, showcasing his resilience and ability to rise to the occasion in high-pressure moments. He may not have posted a shutout, but Brad Wall did exactly what was needed—he gave his team a chance to win, and they made it count.
