Would the Frosty bats continue to remain hot and continue their path of destruction at Island Park versus Pipe last night? It was a good question following the bat dilemna which probably will not go away the entire season. The answer however was a resounding yes.
The Frosties jumped out to an early 13-0 lead in the top of the first only to see Pipe come back to take the lead. Another big Frosty 13-run third inning saw the Frosties up 11, but the Pipe bats were too much in the end, beating the Frosties 35-30. All the talk of composites definitely fueled the arguments on one side of the debate. It should also be noted that there was a 25mph wind blowing out to dead center.
Game two saw Brian "Casino" Goerke shut down the Pipe bats and the Frosties got the big hits when they needed it - highlighted by a Joe "Dead Pull" Musalo 3-run blast into the water in right center. Frosties won 14-9 in a shortened game due to the time limit.
Offensive stars on the day included Artie "Pants" Maisano with towering blasts to left field and now batting .750 with an insane 5 home runs in 20 at-bats - all in open fields. The return of Nicky "Nikki" Harrison was well received with Nicky only registering one out the entire night. Same can be said for Gino "the Surgeon" Gaeta. Anthony "Boom Boom" Bruno tied the Frosty record set by Rob "the Regulator" Goerke with six walks on the day. All other Frosties had strong days at the plate, just too much to list.
Frosties look to Monday, June 1st for our next game versus the Cougars at Jones Beach. A likely battle for first place. See you there!
